Vietnam - Tanzania: Exchanging experiences in building policies and strategies, accelerating digital transformation

On May 17, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Information and Communications , Comrade Nguyen Manh Hung, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Information and Communications, received and worked with the delegation of the ruling Revolutionary Party (CCM) of Tanzania led by Mr. Abdulrahman Omar Kinana, member of the Politburo, Vice Chairman of the Party.

Also attending the reception were comrade Truong Quang Hoai Nam, Deputy Head of the Central External Relations Commission, along with leaders of Departments and Bureaus under the Ministry of Information and Communications and leaders of the Viettel Military Industry and Telecommunications Group.

Expressing his pleasure to meet Mr. Abdulrahman Omar Kinana again in Vietnam after the visit of our Party delegation to attend the 10th Congress of the CCM Party in Tanzania in December 2022, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung expressed his belief that the friendly and cooperative relations between Vietnam and Tanzania will continue to be strengthened in all aspects, including politics , diplomacy, trade and investment. The leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam all support the development of cooperative relations with Tanzania. The Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications will carry out many cooperative activities with Tanzanian partners. Vietnamese digital technology enterprises that are providing digital transformation solutions in many countries around the world are ready to support digital transformation in Tanzania. Vietnam and Tanzania will expand cooperation programs towards building a Digital Partnership.

For his part, CCM Vice President Abdulrahman Omar Kinana congratulated Vietnam on its achievements after 35 years of reform, considering these valuable experiences for Tanzania to learn from. During this visit to Vietnam, in addition to learning from the experience of Party building and economic growth model innovation, the delegation also hopes to exchange experiences in building policies and strategies to accelerate digital transformation, develop the digital economy and digital society.

At the meeting, representatives of several units of the Ministry of Information and Communications introduced to the delegation of the ruling Revolutionary Party (CCM) of Tanzania solutions for developing telecommunications infrastructure, digital infrastructure, developing the ICT industry, digital transformation and promoting the development of Vietnam's digital economy and digital society.

To support Tanzania in digital transformation, Vietnam is willing to share its experience in building management policies and training to improve digital capacity for Tanzanian managers. In addition, Vietnamese enterprises can provide appropriate and effective solutions for the digital transformation process, promoting the development of Tanzania's digital economy and digital society.

Appreciating the sharing of Vietnam, Mr. Abdulrahman Omar Kinana said that these are valuable experiences that Tanzania can study and learn from when returning home. Mr. Abdulrahman Omar Kinana also acknowledged the contributions of Halotel, a network operator invested by Viettel Military Industry and Telecommunications Group in Tanzania, to infrastructure development, service universalization, coverage in rural areas; actively implementing social security programs, improving the quality of life, contributing to hunger eradication and poverty reduction in Tanzania. The Party and Government of Tanzania always attach importance to developing cooperative relations with Vietnam and are ready to support and create a favorable investment environment for Vietnamese investors.

Implementing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the field of information and communications signed between the Minister of Information and Communications of Vietnam and the Minister of Information, Communications and Information Technology of Tanzania in December 2022, the two sides agreed to organize specific cooperation activities on policy institutions, digital human resource training, connecting digital enterprises of the two countries, especially creating favorable conditions for enterprises of the two countries to cooperate in investment, encouraging expansion into new fields such as ICT industry, digital transformation, information security.

At the end of the working session, the Delegation visited and listened to an introduction to the Industry's Digital Museum at the headquarters of the Ministry of Information and Communications./.
