Vietnam and Japan cooperate to develop high-quality healthcare

On September 29, Cho Ray Hospital coordinated with the International University of Health and Welfare (IUHW) and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City to organize the Vietnam - Japan International Medical Cooperation Conference. The conference took place on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.

Representatives of the Vietnamese and Japanese Ministries of Health called for cooperation in education - human resource development in the fields of health - welfare and medical cooperation.

With the theme "Vietnam - Japan cooperation and challenges in the healthcare sector. Vietnam - Japan go together, towards the future, reaching the world", the thematic sessions discuss the future healthcare system, developing the Japanese medical equipment and pharmaceutical market in Vietnam, clinical trials and pharmaceutical licensing processes in Southeast Asia, providing high-quality healthcare services, creating a process to improve the effectiveness and safety of pharmaceuticals and medical equipment and developing future healthcare human resources...

Dr. Nguyen Tri Thuc, Director of Cho Ray Hospital, with his presentation "Strengthening medical examination and treatment management activities at hospitals: The future of medical quality and services" and Associate Professor, Dr. Lam Viet Trung, Deputy Director of Cho Ray Hospital, with the topic "Continuous learning in Medicine" contributed to providing an overview of the development as well as efforts to build the brand of Cho Ray Hospital in particular and the Vietnamese medical sector in general.

At the conference, leaders of the Ministry of Health of Vietnam and Japan called for further strengthening of cooperation between Japan and Vietnam in the fields of medicine, health care as well as educational cooperation activities - human resource development in the fields of health - welfare and medical cooperation.

Dr. Takagi Kuninori, President of IUHW, expressed his hope that the International University of Health and Welfare of Japan and its partners in Vietnam will have a deeper cooperative relationship to contribute to the future of the medical and health sectors of the two countries.

In 1996, the International University of Health and Welfare (IUHW) began to cooperate with units in Vietnam by sending students to practice at Cho Ray Hospital. The students were sent to practice in the health care sector such as nursing, physical therapy technicians, and rehabilitation.

Since 2017, the number of students coming to practice at Cho Ray Hospital has increased gradually over the years (average 130 - 150 students/year). At the same time, during the internship period, the two sides have combined cultural exchange activities of the two countries.

Afterwards, Cho Ray Hospital - Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy - Japan International University of Health and Welfare signed cooperation agreements to facilitate the exchange of experts and professional experiences to improve the quality of care and treatment of Vietnamese patients.
