Vietnam builds monument to Soviet and Chinese experts and soldiers

Deputy Minister of National Defense Hoang Xuan Chien said that Vietnam plans to build a monument to experts and soldiers from the Soviet Union and China at the Vietnam Military History Museum to show gratitude for the great contributions and assistance of the Soviet Union and China.

On June 4, at the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense , Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Minister of National Defense, received Colonel Khuong Ba, Chinese Defense Attaché in Vietnam and Colonel Alexey Arkadievich Govorov, Russian Defense Attaché in Vietnam.

Speaking at the reception, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien emphasized that the bilateral defense cooperation between Vietnam - China and Vietnam - Russia has always been affirmed as one of the important pillars in the relationship between Vietnam and the two countries.

At the same time, he affirmed that the Party, State, people and People's Army of Vietnam always appreciate and remember the great and effective assistance of China and the Soviet Union/Russia in the past struggle for national independence and the cause of building socialism and developing the country today.

Discussing the contents of cooperation in the coming time, the Deputy Minister of National Defense of Vietnam proposed that the Ministries of Defense of China and Russia continue to closely and effectively coordinate with the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam to promote cooperation on the basis of signed documents and agreements, including the contents on military history cooperation, contributing to further strengthening the defense cooperation relationship between Vietnam and the two countries.

Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien said that Vietnam is preparing to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2. This is a major political event for Vietnam and also a common joy for international friends.

China and Russia have given sincere and wholehearted assistance to the revolution as well as to the construction and development of Vietnam. The Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense will soon send invitations to the leaders of the Chinese and Russian Ministries of National Defense to attend the celebration.

Speaking at the reception, Colonel Khuong Ba and Colonel Alexey Arkadievich Govorov sincerely thanked Vietnam for building the monument to Soviet and Chinese experts and soldiers. They also emphasized the important significance of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam's National Day on September 2. Colonel Khuong Ba and Colonel Alexey Arkadievich Govorov said they would report back to Vietnam and advise domestic authorities to promote the contents mentioned by Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien.
