The 2023 World Bodybuilding Championships will take place from November 6 to 12 in Korea, bringing together nearly 300 athletes from 39 countries and territories. The Vietnamese Bodybuilding Team will participate in the tournament with 21 athletes, including 13 men and 8 women, competing in 26/51 events.
The categories in which Vietnamese athletes are likely to win medals include: women's categories (bodybuilding, classical, fitness); mixed doubles and men's bodybuilding categories (55kg, 60kg, 65kg and 70kg).
Previously, on the first day of competition (November 9), the Vietnamese Bodybuilding Team competed in 13/19 events and won 5 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 3 bronze medals.
The gold medals on this competition day were brought home thanks to the efforts of the athletes: Pham Van Mach (55kg men's), Dinh Kim Loan (55kg women's), Bao Quoc Vuong (65kg men's), Ho Huy Binh (70kg men's) and Nguyen Thi Kim Dung (fitness women, height up to 1m65). Notably, this is the 6th time that the 47-year-old athlete Pham Van Mach has won the World Championship.
On the competition day of November 10, the Vietnam Bodybuilding Team won 2 more gold medals thanks to Pham Van Phuoc in the men's classical event (height up to 1m60) and Tran Hoang Duy Thuan/Nguyen Thi Kim Thoa in the mixed doubles event.
On the third day of competition (November 11), two athletes Nguyen Thi Kim Dung and Tran Thi Cam Tu won the gold and silver medals respectively in the women's classical bodybuilding category (height up to 1m65). In addition, the Vietnam Bodybuilding Team also won 02 runner-up positions in the men's team category and women's team category. This is the first time Vietnam Bodybuilding has won a ranking in the men's team category at the world championship.
At the end of the tournament, the Vietnam Bodybuilding Team won a total of 08 gold medals, 06 silver medals and 04 bronze medals, ranking third overall after India (11 gold medals, 05 silver medals and 10 bronze medals) and Mongolia (09 gold medals, 11 silver medals, 05 bronze medals). This is also the highest ranking of Vietnam Bodybuilding in the history of participating in the tournament.
