NDO - On the morning of December 2, in Hanoi , the People's Army Newspaper, the Press and Publication Department (Central Propaganda Department), the People's Army Publishing House and Bac A Commercial Joint Stock Bank jointly organized a press meeting, introduced the Closing Ceremony and awarded prizes for the 15th Writing Contest "Simple but Noble Examples" (2023-2024); launched the 16th Writing Contest (2024-2025).
The contest aims to discover and honor typical examples of soldiers currently working in the Army, veterans, and ex-servicemen who have made outstanding contributions to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland in the new era. This is a practical activity to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army.
After more than 1 year of launching, the Organizing Committee received nearly 1,000 entries in the categories of reportage, memoir, and portrait memoir. Through two preliminary and final rounds, the Organizing Committee selected 35 outstanding entries to award prizes, including: 1 special prize (50 million VND), 3 A prizes (30 million VND each), 8 B prizes (20 million VND each); 11 C prizes (10 million VND each) and 12 Encouragement prizes (5 million VND each). Of which, the work about General Pham Van Tra by Colonel Tran Hoang Tien won the Special Prize of the 15th writing contest.
Major General Doan Xuan Bo - Editor-in-Chief of the People's Army Newspaper, Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest, said: This year is the first time there is a special prize. Initially, there was no such prize in the award structure, but with the excellence of the work, the Final Jury evaluated and gave very high scores, and reported to the Organizing Committee to unanimously award a special prize in this year's writing contest.

The characters are honored through rich articles from subjects, ages to fields of work, regions and areas. They are all typical examples of qualities, personalities, kindness, always studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style. Whether in wartime or peacetime, they always maintain their courage, overcome difficulties, constantly create and innovate to contribute their intelligence and efforts to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
The ceremony to honor 35 characters in 35 award-winning works is scheduled to be held on December 6 at the Ho Chi Minh Museum (No. 19 Ngoc Ha, Ba Dinh, Hanoi).
On this occasion, the Organizing Committee launched the 16th Writing Contest "Simple but Noble Examples" (2024-2025).
