VMware Cloud Launches New Features to Help Secure Multi-Cloud Businesses

VietNamNetVietNamNet31/08/2023

With VMware Cloud, customers can innovate faster, operate more efficiently, improve threat protection, and speed recovery from ransomware attacks.

“VMware Cloud is setting a new standard for helping customers modernize, optimize, and better protect their businesses,” said Krish Prasad, senior vice president and general manager, cloud infrastructure business unit, VMware. “The latest VMware Cloud features further modernize cloud infrastructure and provide a single cloud operating model that enhances developer productivity and security.”

VMware Cloud Foundation brings together the latest innovations in VMware's on-premises and public cloud software solutions into a unified software suite, creating a consistent environment across on-premises infrastructure, hyperscaler cloud services, or any partner cloud environment.

Customers can choose from five VMware Cloud editions (Essentials, Standard, Pro, Advanced, Enterprise) to modernize their infrastructure and flexibly manage every stage of their cloud transformation journey. Customers can deploy and manage their VMware Cloud environment in three ways: Customer-managed; VMware-managed; Provider-managed.

VMware also introduced NSX+ virtual private clouds (VPCs). NSX+ VPCs provide complete isolation of networking, security, and services across the VMware Cloud infrastructure for shared users, managed from a single, common provider interface. Developers and application teams can choose the optimal clouds for their applications, while benefiting from the self-service and agility of NSX+ VPCs across clouds.

VMware also announced VMware vSAN Max, a more scalable, efficient, and cost-effective storage service for VMware Cloud, a new offering in the vSAN family. VMware storage solutions will provide customers with superior scalability compared to traditional storage solutions, with performance, capacity, resiliency, and low TCO for today’s most demanding applications.

VMware Ransomware Recovery, a service on VMware Cloud also announced today, is designed to recover from fileless attacks and can reduce the time to resolve unplanned outages by 75%. VMware Ransomware Recovery has added the ability to recover multiple VMs concurrently and will help customers run production applications in the cloud until investigation is complete and on-premises data centers are hardened (expected to be available in Q3 FY24).

Finally, VMware announced a new ESXi lifecycle management service, powered by the cloud in VMware vSphere+, as an early availability service. IT administrators will be able to centrally manage upgrades across entire ESXi fleets in distributed, isolated multi-vCenter environments, and complete tasks that previously required hundreds or even thousands of steps, especially in large environments, with just a few clicks.
