Vietnamese boxer knocks out British opponent after 18 seconds

(Dan Tri) - The knockout of his opponent after only 18 seconds made Ha Viet Hieu enter the history of the MMA Championship.

The MMA LION Championship 07 free martial arts event on July 8 at Rach Mieu Stadium (HCMC) was very exciting with 12 matches of class B and 7 matches of class A. In class B, viewers witnessed a beautiful knockout of fighter Ha Viet Hieu (AMG Thanh Hoa Club) in the match with British opponent Joseph Hanlon in the 77kg class.

The knockout in just 18 seconds made Ha Viet Hieu the fastest knockout since the MMA LION Championship was established, surpassing the two knockouts of Le Van The Anh (20 seconds) and Do Huy Hoang (28 seconds) in the 2022 season.

In the A-class matches taking place in the evening, the highlight was the confrontation between Tran Ngoc Luong and Tran Minh Nhut in the 60kg weight class. After the absolute victory over Lai The Toan at MMA LION Championship 06, Tran Ngoc Luong is completely worthy to compete in the A-class 60kg weight class. Meanwhile, Tran Ngoc Luong's opponent at LION Championship 07 is boxer Tran Minh Nhut from Lien Phong Martial Arts School, a student of actor Johnny Tri Nguyen.

Very quickly after the opening whistle, Ngoc Luong approached and pulled Minh Nhut into a prone position. In other notable matches, boxer Luu Nhan Nghia won by technical knockout over Dang Hoang Minh (77kg class). In this match, after the first round ended, the referee consulted with the medical team and decided to stop the match because Hoang Minh suffered an injury with a deep tear around his eye, affecting his ability to compete.

In the 70kg category, Huynh Nguyen Quoc Bao won by points against Dang Thang Nguyen. In the 65kg category, MMA Fight Academy fighter Nguyen Chuong landed a very heavy punch and kick. At 4 minutes and 3 seconds of the first round, Nguyen Chuong gained the advantage and continuously delivered accurate punches against Quoc Hoa, forcing the referee to stop the match. The victory was by technical knockout for Nguyen Nguyen Chuong.

The match between Do Phuc Hau and Nguyen Huy Sac (65kg) was exciting. Most of the first round took place in the prone and cage-based fighting position when Huy Sac was always the one who actively approached and tried to knock down his opponent. In the second round, at 2 minutes and 2 seconds, Huy Sac was suddenly hit by a heavy punch and fell down, immediately after that Phuc Hau rushed in to continue to execute a series of punches, forcing the referee to stop the match.

The only match in the women's weight class (52kg) took place between Ho Thi Ngoc Bich and Le Thi Thuy Vy. The two fighters were evenly matched, so the match needed a score to determine the winner.
