"Many parents regret depositing money for school"?
On June 22, speaking to Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Nguyen Hoa Nam, Principal of Victory Primary, Secondary and High School (Victory School, Buon Ma Thuot city, Dak Lak), said that the school has completed the report on the cancellation of the admission results of students taking the 10th grade entrance exam to send to the provincial Department of Education and Training.

According to Mr. Nam, on May 28, NML participated in the school's 10th grade entrance exam. On May 30, the school announced the procedures for admission to 10th grade, stating that admitted students must pay one month's tuition and food expenses worth 4.5 million VND before June 8 to confirm their admission. However, L.'s family did not pay until June 10, which is not in accordance with regulations.
"The school will not return the 4.5 million VND paid if the admitted student withdraws his/her application. This amount is like a deposit for the school, so that the school can keep its position and not enroll more students, and most private schools do this," said Mr. Nam.
According to the Principal of Victory School, this year, many schools in Dak Lak province organized entrance exams for grade 10 and students in grade 9 of the school also took the exams at many other schools.
However, there are parents who are willing to pay a deposit for their children to ensure that they still have a place at school, but there are also many parents who regret paying the deposit so they delay paying it or do not pay it on time, so their students are not accepted into the school because they have given the opportunity to other candidates.
Regarding the reason for canceling L.’s results, Victory School said that L. was a student from grade 2 to grade 9 at the school, so she took the first round of exams, which had many priorities. However, when students did not enroll on time, the school reserved a quota for students taking the second round of exams who were outside the school.
"The school was forced to cancel L.'s admission results according to the admission notice issued to ensure fairness and transparency in the admission process. The school has fulfilled its responsibilities to the admitted students," the Principal of Victory School affirmed.
Students are innocent!
Mr. Nguyen Hoa Nam added that L.'s parents did not have any communication or request for late payment of tuition fees to the Admissions Council and did not have any communication with the school principal.
School leaders affirmed that they handled the incident according to regulations to create fairness for other candidates (Photo: Thuy Diem).
"If the parents had called me to explain the reason for the late payment, I would have handled it well and not led to today's incident. Even up to now, the parents have not had a single phone call with me about the incident.
In this case, it is the parents' and the school's fault for not coordinating and communicating with each other, and the adults' fault for making the students suffer because they are still young and have done nothing wrong," said Mr. Nam.
Regarding the next course of action, the leadership of Victory School stated that next Monday the school will officially announce the list of payment and admission for both admission rounds to grade 10. After that, the school will consider priority cases and cases with reasons such as L.'s case for consideration.
"If the school lacks the quota, we will issue a general announcement to recruit more students. At that time, we will create conditions for L., but on the condition that parents and students still want to study at the school," said the Principal of Victory School.
As Dan Tri reported, Mr. T. (residing in Thuong Tin district, Hanoi city) complained about his daughter studying from grade 2 to grade 9 at Victory School and participating in the school's 10th grade entrance exam, passing the first round of admission, but because he paid the tuition fee 2 days late, the school canceled the admission result.
Mr. T. made a request to the school but received a response that the results were canceled according to regulations.
Mr. T. was very surprised because he had sent his daughter to school for the past 8 years but the school did not create conditions for his child and the family was worried about the psychological impact on their 15-year-old daughter.
