4-storey building collapse in Ho Chi Minh City: Two victims in serious condition, hospital initiates red alert procedure

On the evening of September 24, a source from Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper said that immediately after receiving the news of the collapse of a 4-story building in Binh Thanh District, the 115 Emergency Center quickly dispatched 3 ambulances and the Binh Thanh District Hospital Satellite Station to the scene.

7 victims were given first aid and taken to 2 local hospitals for further emergency care and treatment.

A representative of Gia Dinh People's Hospital said the hospital initiated the red alert procedure as soon as it received the two male victims.

The first case was a 23-year-old male (living in Soc Trang ) who was transferred to the Emergency Department at 3:00 p.m. in a state of multiple injuries. The patient suffered a fractured left femur, bilateral pulmonary contusions, and head, chest, and neck injuries.

At 4 p.m., the hospital's Emergency Department received another 31-year-old victim with open fractures of both tibiae.

The hospital provided emergency care to the two patients and urgently consulted with many specialties such as orthopedics, neurosurgery, thoracic and vascular surgery, etc. At 5:00 p.m., the two victims were transferred to the Anesthesia and Resuscitation Department for continued emergency care, surgery, and intensive treatment.

MD CKII Dung Thi Kim Hanh, Head of Emergency Department, Binh Thanh District Hospital, informed about the victims' health.

At Binh Thanh District Hospital, Dr. Dung Thi Kim Hanh, Head of the Emergency Department, said that the hospital received and treated 5 victims, including 3 men and 2 women, aged 20-50. Of these, 1 person was transferred to Gia Dinh People's Hospital and 1 victim is healthy, without injuries, and is being monitored.

The remaining 3 cases had soft tissue injuries and stable vital signs. These patients were examined with X-rays (one case also had a CT scan), with normal results.

Previously, as reported by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper , at noon of the same day, residents of alley 133 Binh Quoi (Ward 27, Binh Thanh District) heard a loud noise coming from a house in this alley. People ran to see the house had collapsed, with concrete strewn about.
