Located near the foot of Dai Hue mountain with an area of nearly 1.5 hectares, Dai Hue rose garden has dozens of ancient rose trees that are hundreds of years old, some planted later are over 30 years old. Every year, at this time the rose garden has begun to open to welcome visitors, with the number of visitors during the week from 100-200 visitors/day, on weekends, when the weather is nice, it welcomes up to 500-700 visitors per day. According to Mr. Nguyen Trong Sach - the owner of the rose garden, the base of the rose tree has been reinforced with very sturdy stones so it is less likely to fall like the surrounding gardens. However, more than 60% of the rose fruit has fallen, greatly affecting business and tourism activities. Normally, the rose garden would be open to welcome visitors to take photos from now until Tet, when the rose fruit has all ripened and fallen, but this year, the amount of fruit left on the tree is insignificant, and the rose garden is also devastated after the storm and flood, so he is closing the garden, focusing on cleaning and restoring. "If things are stable, we will open near the end of the season to serve customers who want to take photos for a short time, before the rose fruit has all fallen," said Mr. Nguyen Trong Sach.

With 100 rose bushes over 30 years old, each year Mrs. Nguyen Thi Phuc's family in Hamlet 6 earns over 50 million VND from selling rose bushes. In the past two years, her family has invested in renovating the garden, building and creating a beautiful landscape to attract tourists to experience, visit, take photos and pick roses, and their income has increased significantly.

However, this year, storm No. 10 has uprooted over 30 of the family's old rose trees, affecting the productivity and quality of the fruit. "The saddest thing is that although it is the season, we cannot open the door to welcome guests in this state of the rose garden, with the roots of the trees uprooted like this," said Mrs. Phuc. Currently, the family is salvaging the remaining rose fruits that are ready to be harvested to sell to traders, at the same time, re-establishing the trees, covering the roots, taking care of them, and cultivating the rose roots in the hope of saving the rose garden.

The storm caused hundreds of ancient rose trees in Dai Hue commune to fall and be uprooted, causing heavy economic losses. These are all rose gardens that are in harvest time and in the tourist season, promising a bumper crop for the people.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh The - Vice Chairman of Dai Hue Commune People's Committee said: In the commune, there are nearly 200 hectares of land growing persimmons. In addition to income from persimmons, in recent years, the area has strongly developed the form of agricultural tourism.

The beauty of the ancient rose gardens, decades old and full of fruit, perched precariously on moss-covered rocky hills, likened to the Nghe An stone plateau, has attracted thousands of tourists. In addition to earning tens of millions of dong each season from selling persimmons as before, people also have a significant source of income from serving tourists, taking photos...

This year, storm No. 10 caused half of the persimmon growing area in Dai Hue commune, which was about to enter the harvest season, to be broken and uprooted. Tourism activities were forced to stop, causing heavy economic losses for the people. “The commune called on information pages, connected with businesses, fruit wine processing factories to buy persimmons to solve the product output for the people to salvage part of their income. Along with that, it instructed people to focus on pruning and cleaning up fallen fruit trees to ensure the remaining areas can grow, then replanting. For trees that can still be saved, the damaged parts will be pruned, foliar fertilizers and microorganisms added to the root zone will be added to help the trees recover quickly,” said Mr. Nguyen Dinh The.
