Nghe An launches campaign to save energy in schools

Energy is closely linked to daily economic and social life, greatly impacting the country's economic and social development. Saving electricity is one of the most effective solutions to help reduce pressure on the exploitation and supply of energy, helping to improve the economy, protect the environment and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to the implementation of Vietnam's commitment at the COP 26 Climate Change Summit on reducing greenhouse gas emissions to O (Net Zero) by 2050.

According to statistics, Vietnam's annual domestic electricity output is at 33-34% of total energy consumption. The level of electricity waste reaches 30-50%, the highest in the world , due to electricity usage habits and the quality of electrical equipment.

Recently, the State has had many solutions to implement energy saving: Promulgating many policies on economical and efficient energy use; propagating in many forms such as competitions, launching ceremonies of energy saving movements, responding to Earth Hour which is implemented annually.

In the coming time, with the target of double-digit growth, the power source must grow by about 10-15%/year. Resolution No. 70 of the Politburo sets the target of saving 8-10% of energy compared to the normal development scenario. Therefore, saving electricity is not only the responsibility of the Electricity industry but also the responsibility of all agencies, organizations, businesses and people.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Hoang Minh Tuan - Director of Nghe An Center for Industrial and Commercial Development Support and Consulting hopes that Nghe An Electricity Company has a plan and solutions to manage electricity demand appropriately to ensure safe and stable electricity supply; proactively plan electricity supply for people and businesses in the area. Closely coordinate with local authorities in mobilizing people to ensure grid safety, especially during the rainy and stormy season.

For the Commune People's Committee: Perform well the State management function on energy; coordinate effectively with relevant units to manage electricity according to the decentralization in the area under their responsibility. Strengthen propaganda for people and organizations in the area. Develop a plan to implement the Energy Saving Program in the area, in which, pay attention to planning roads, parks, public places, and office buildings using rooftop solar power.

For schools: Focus on integrating energy saving content into students' activities and learning.

Through this ceremony, we hope that each student will become a propagandist for energy saving and efficiency. From there, we will create a change in action, forming a habit of consciously using energy saving and efficiency not only in schools but also in each household and community.
