Vegetable seedling field in Hong Linh village (Can Loc commune) revived after storm No. 10.

For many years, Hong Linh village (Can Loc commune) has been considered the "capital" of vegetable seeds in Ha Tinh . With more than 2 hectares of planting area, each year, this place produces hundreds of thousands of seedlings per batch, serving hundreds of hectares of winter vegetables in and outside the province.

The planting season usually starts from September of this year and lasts until February of the following year, with main crops such as: cauliflower, kohlrabi, cabbage, mustard greens, peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, lettuce, etc. Each crop takes only about 20-25 days to harvest, creating a continuous and steady production chain throughout the season.

This year, the first crop sown in late September and early October 2025 encountered storm No. 10, causing damage to nearly 60% of the area. With many efforts to overcome the consequences of the storm, at this time, farmers in Hong Linh village's vegetable seed warehouse have begun harvesting seedlings to sell to the market.

Ms. Phan Thi Huong (Hong Linh village) said: “Storm No. 10 caused my family to lose 4/7 sao of previously sown seedlings, and all the bamboo and plastic systems covering the beds were damaged. Not surrendering to natural disasters, after the storm, we resumed production: taking care of the remaining vegetable beds and improving the soil to plant new crops. Up to now, the entire area of plants has grown green, 1/3 of which has been harvested and sold to people for winter crop production.”

Similarly, up to now, Mr. Nguyen Van Anh's family (Hong Linh village) has also quickly covered 8 sao of vegetable seedlings after storm No. 10 and started harvesting seedlings. "At this time, on average, we sell nearly 8,000 seedlings of all kinds to the market every day, including high-quality vegetables such as cauliflower, kohlrabi, and cabbage, accounting for 30%. However, the main crop still has to wait for another 7-10 days, at which time the number of seedlings harvested each day will be 3-4 times higher than at present" - Mr. Anh said.

Specifically, varieties such as cauliflower, kohlrabi, cabbage cost 10,000 VND/bunch (10 plants); mustard greens, tomatoes, eggplants... cost from 2,500 VND - 4,500 VND/bunch (10 plants).

Hong Linh village's vegetable seedling barn was established over 30 years ago. Since 2020, thanks to the new rural development policy and the attention of all levels, sectors and localities, the village has established the "Seedling, Vegetable, Root and Fruit Production" Association. Initially, the association had 15 members, and now has over 30 households.

Thanks to participating in training courses, farmers have applied many technical advances, from seed selection, soil treatment, organic fertilization to plastic covering and automatic irrigation. Thereby, helping to improve the productivity and quality of seedlings. In addition, farmers in Hong Linh village have also actively applied digital transformation, helping seedling products reach far in the market in and outside the province such as: Thanh Hoa, Nghe An , Quang Tri...

People also apply digital transformation in product consumption, from promotion, receiving orders to payment, all are done by phone. Customers living far away just need to call, place an order, and the plants will be delivered to their home, very convenient."
