Naval Region 5 successfully implements military and defense tasks in 2024

This is the result recorded through a comprehensive inspection at the Naval Region 5 Command on November 20 by a working delegation of the Ministry of National Defense led by Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army.

The delegation conducted a comprehensive inspection of all aspects of staff, political , logistics and technical work. The focus was on the system of books and documents of all sectors; training, combat readiness, building discipline, compliance with discipline, ensuring safety; results of the implementation of tasks of managing and protecting sovereignty over seas and islands; the order and quality of party work, political work and logistics, finance and technical assurance for the tasks.

Through inspection, it was shown that the Naval Region 5 Command has thoroughly grasped and implemented the military and defense tasks in 2024. Notably, it has done well in combat readiness, defense diplomacy, patrolling, and sea management; organized training, drills, and live-fire tests for the subjects according to plan, ensuring absolute safety; Party work, political work, building a regular order, and discipline training have been deployed synchronously and closely; the technical status of weapons and equipment is good; logistics and financial work are fully, promptly, and in accordance with regulations.

The region has done well in propaganda work on seas and islands, propaganda against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing; effectively maintained the program "Vietnam Navy as a fulcrum for fishermen to go offshore and stick to the sea", the activity "Navy sponsors fishermen's children"; done well in mass mobilization, search and rescue, prevention of natural disasters, fires and forest fires.

In 2024, the unit coordinated with local authorities and forces to promptly extinguish 7 fires in the stationed area; transported and provided nearly 1,000 ^m3 of fresh water free of charge to people in drought and saltwater intrusion areas in Ca Mau province and fishermen in the Southwest sea. Thereby, it contributed to strengthening the solidarity between the army and the people, building a solid "people's heart position" at sea.

Concluding the inspection, Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh acknowledged and commended the achievements of the Naval Region 5 Command in the past time and noted that the unit needs to continue to perform well its military and defense tasks in the remaining months of 2024 and the following years. In particular, focusing on improving research capacity, accurately forecasting the situation; strictly maintaining combat-ready forces and means; strictly managing assigned sea areas, not missing or missing targets, and being passive and surprised in all situations.
