Vietnam Wushu won 5 world gold medals, ranked second overall

On the final day of the tournament, the Vietnamese Wushu team won three more gold medals thanks to the efforts of martial artists Huynh Do Dat (men's 70kg), Nguyen Thi Lan (women's 48kg) and Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy (women's 60kg).

Previously, Dang Tran Phuong Nhi had a brilliant performance when she won 2 gold medals in the women's men's boxing and men's stick performance. In addition, Phuong Nhi also won 1 silver medal in the taolu event. With 5 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 3 bronze medals, the Vietnamese Wushu team ranked second overall, just behind the Wushu powerhouse China. This is the best achievement of the Vietnamese Wushu team in the world championships. Previously, at the same tournament in 2019, the Vietnamese Wushu team only won 1 gold medal, 4 silver medals and 4 bronze medals.

The 2023 World Wushu Championships will bring together more than 500 athletes from 72 countries and territories. The tournament will feature 11 sets of medals for men's taolu and 11 sets of medals for women's taolu; 7 weight categories for men from 48kg to 75kg and the same number of categories for women. The Vietnamese Wushu team will participate in the world championships with 13 athletes, including prominent names such as Duong Thuy Vi, Phuong Giang, Thu Thuy, Phuong Nhi, Do Dat and Van Huu.
