Previously, at around 5:15 p.m. on June 3, Den Sang Commune Police received a report from the security and order protection force at Nam Giang village about two children, Tan Duy K., born in 2017, and Tan Minh D., born in 2018, both with permanent residence in Nam Giang village, Den Sang commune, Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province, suspected of drowning in the stream area of Nam Giang village, Den Sang commune.
Upon receiving the news, Den Sang Commune Police coordinated with functional forces and local authorities to deploy forces to search. At around 20:35 on the same day, the forces discovered two young children dead in deep water near a nearby stream.
The forces organized a search for victims.
According to the victim's family, the two children went to herd buffaloes with their grandfather, Tan Phu H., at the family's hut near the stream. Afterwards, Mr. H. told the two children to stay at the hut to herd buffaloes, then returned home to fix the motorbike. At about 4 p.m. the same day, Mr. H. returned and could not find the two children. After searching around, Mr. H. discovered the children's sandals and clothes left on the stream bank under the hut, so he called the family and the authorities to help search.
After finding the victims, Den Sang Commune Police made a record of the incident and handed over the bodies of the two children to their families for burial according to local customs.
Currently, entering the summer season, the risk of accidents, injuries, and drowning is very high. Therefore, each family, functional agencies, and governments at all levels need to step up propaganda,education , and management to ensure the safety of children during the summer.
