Mr. Bui Hung Liet, Chairman of Hung My Commune People's Committee, presented support money to Nguyen Van Gioi's family (Hoang Lan Hamlet).

Mr. Bui Hung Liet said that the tornado swept through the hamlets of Hoang Lan and Dong Hung, causing damage to 15 houses of 14 households, with a total estimated loss of more than 260 million VND.

The damaged house of Mr. Ta Minh Luan (a poor family in Hoang Lan hamlet, Hung My commune, Ca Mau province) had 40 corrugated iron sheets damaged, 6 concrete pillars at the back were broken, and the thatched roof was blown into the pond. The estimated damage was about 14 million VND.

A typical example is the house made of local wood belonging to Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ly, a poor family in Hoang Lan hamlet, which was completely destroyed. The tornado also made many other valuable assets such as beds, aluminum wardrobes and televisions unusable.

After the tornado, the house of Ms. Vo Thi Men (35 years old, near-poor household, Hoang Lan hamlet, Hung My commune) was moved from its foundation and completely tilted down to the edge of the pond behind.

Hung My commune leaders estimated that people need about 153 million VND to overcome the consequences of natural disasters. Of which, Ngo Hoang Dung household in Dong Hung hamlet suffered the most damage and needs support of up to 40 million VND because 2 houses had their roofs completely blown off, with a damage level of over 70%.

In addition to residential areas, the old Tan Hung Dong Commune Health Station headquarters and the old Tan Hung Dong Commune Cultural Institution Area were also affected by this extreme weather phenomenon.

Hung My commune was formed on the basis of merging the entire area and population of Hung My commune, part of Tan Hung Dong commune and the remaining part of Hoa My commune, with a total area of 98.4 km2 and a population of 38,687 people.
