My Thai commune mobilized forces to handle the incident at the dike.

BAC NINH - A section of the dike in Duc Tho village, My Thai commune is leaking and collapsing, at risk of breaking, which will affect more than 100 households in the area. As soon as the incident was discovered, the commune and village mobilized local forces and neighboring areas to quickly handle the situation.

According to comrade Nguyen Van Dich, Secretary of the Duc Tho village Party Cell (My Thai commune), on the afternoon of October 8, the village discovered that water had begun to seep through the dike. By about 7 p.m. the same day, a 20-meter section of the dike had collapsed, directly threatening the lives and property of more than 100 households living inside the dike area.

Many bags of soil were urgently brought to the landslide area.

Faced with the urgent situation, My Thai commune and Duc Tho village urgently announced, asking people in the dangerous area to evacuate to a safe place, and at the same time mobilized all local forces and people in neighboring villages to urgently overcome the incident.

The troubleshooting is underway.

Knowing the situation, hundreds of people from Chi Le, Lang Phuc Man, Hoa, Vuon, Le villages... quickly arrived, bringing hoes, shovels, sacks, bamboo, soil and even machines to focus on handling the incident. In the dark, each person had a job, some shoveled soil, some carried soil, some packed bags, drove bamboo stakes, operated cranes... with the hope of stopping the water, maintaining the dike, protecting the lives of the people.

Each bag of soil was dropped and reinforced at the landslide section.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan, a resident of Lang Phuc Man village, shared: “Although the incident did not happen in my village, when we learned that Duc Tho was in danger, dozens of young people in the village immediately went to the scene. We consider this a common task, a responsibility of the whole community.”

Many people participated in handling the incident.

According to the people of Duc Tho village, this dike is inherently strong and has protected people during the rainy season for many years. However, this year, due to the prolonged flood, the water has been submerged for an unprecedented length of time, causing the dike to weaken and cause landslides.

Thanks to the timely intervention, solidarity and determination of all the people in the commune, by about 24:00 on October 8, the work of reinforcing and raising the dike in Duc Tho village was completed.
