Iran 1-1 Syria (penalty: 5-3)
The final quarter-final spot of the 2023 Asian Cup belongs to Iran after an exciting match against Syria. There were many chances in this match, especially from the world's 21st ranked team, but both teams only scored from 11 meters.
Iran had 20 shots, 12 of which were on target. They opened the scoring in the 34th minute with a successful penalty kick by Mehdi Taremi. Syria equalized in the second half in a similar manner.
