(Dan Tri) - The final qualifying round took place last night and early this morning (December 1, Vietnam time) and determined the 16 teams participating in the final round of the 2026 AFC U17 Championship.

China, Yemen, Vietnam, India, Australia, Thailand, Myanmar, Qatar, Uzbekistan, South Korea, North Korea, Japan, Indonesia, UAE, Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia.

In Group A, U17 China beat Bangladesh 4-0, thereby completing a 5-match winning streak, topping the group with 15 points. U17 China advanced to the finals. Bangladesh had 12 points, ranked second in the group and was eliminated.

In Group B, U17 Yemen beat U17 Laos 4-2, taking the top spot with 5 wins and 15 points. U17 Laos was eliminated. They ranked 3rd in this group, with 9 points, equal to the second-placed team Pakistan, but U17 Laos ranked below Pakistan because Laos had a lower secondary index than their opponent.

Meanwhile, in Group C, U17 Vietnam beat U17 Malaysia 4-0. This victory helped U17 Vietnam maintain the top position in the group after 5 wins, with a goal difference of 30/0. Coach Cristiano Roland's team (Brazilian) is the only team in Group C to qualify for the final round.

The biggest surprise was what happened in Group D, U17 India caused a shock when they defeated U17 Iran last night. U17 India topped the group with 7 points after 4 matches (this group only has 5 teams), equal with Iran. However, U17 India ranked higher because of better head-to-head results. U17 Iran was eliminated.

In Group E, Australia drew 3-3 with Iraq in the match that ended early this morning. U17 Australia has 9 points after 4 matches, leading Group E and qualifying for the continental finals. The teams right behind Australia are Jordan and Iraq with 7 points each.

In group F, a very remarkable result happened, U17 Thailand beat Kuwait 3-0. Meanwhile, Turkmenistan beat Mongolia 6-2.

These results made the 3 teams Thailand, Kuwait and Turkmenistan have 9 points each, but Thailand ranked first in the group, because of the better head-to-head results in the matches between the 3 teams mentioned above. U17 Thailand won the right to enter the final round.

In Group G, U17 Myanmar had a very important 2-2 draw with Syria. This result was enough to help Myanmar maintain the top position in the group with 10 points after 4 matches, one point more than the second-placed team Oman.

Myanmar became the third Southeast Asian team to qualify, after U17 Vietnam and U17 Thailand. At the same time, they became the fourth team from this region to participate in the finals. The remaining Southeast Asian team to qualify for the finals is Indonesia. This team did not have to participate in the qualifying round, because they had already secured a ticket, based on their right to qualify for the 2025 U17 World Cup.

The 16 teams participating in the 2026 AFC U17 Championship have been determined. Including 7 teams that passed the qualifying round, 8 teams that have already qualified for the 2025 World Cup and the host team.

The seven teams that qualified for the U17 tournament are China U17, Yemen U17, Vietnam U17, India U17, Australia U17, Thailand U17 and Myanmar U17. The eight teams that qualified for the World Cup are Qatar U17, Uzbekistan U17, South Korea U17, North Korea U17, Japan U17, Indonesia U17, and Tajikistan U17. The host team of the AFC U17 Championship is Saudi Arabia U17. The tournament will take place from May 7 to 24, 2026.
