Come to the resort and experience growing vegetables and raising chickens.
Over the weekend, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan's family flew from Ho Chi Minh City to Khanh Hoa for a vacation. Instead of choosing hotels in Nha Trang, this time, Mr. Tuan chose Six Senses Ninh Van Bay (Ninh Van commune, Ninh Hoa town) for his getaway. Nestled amidst lush greenery, next to the beach, Six Senses Ninh Van Bay is an ideal choice for travelers who want to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse themselves in nature. The next morning, while he went jogging, his wife relaxed with yoga exercises. After breakfast, the couple climbed the mountain to explore the rich flora and fauna, including the black-footed langur and a newly discovered species of turmeric flower… The following day, the couple joined the resort staff in harvesting vegetables and fruits in the garden. Not just for fun, the resort also has a large farm, allowing guests to indulge their passion for gardening and experience the local culture.

According to Ms. Dinh Thuy Nga, Head of Sustainable Development at Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, with a focus on green tourism development, the resort has invested heavily in an organic vegetable garden for many years to meet some of the fresh vegetable needs of guests and to provide a unique experience for visitors. In 2022, Six Senses Ninh Van Bay built the Ninh Van Greens complex to provide sustainable energy for the resort, including electricity, organic vegetables, and hot water. The organic garden covers an area of 1,600 m² and features a variety of fruits and vegetables, such as dragon fruit, gourds, pumpkins, lettuce, herbs, chili peppers, and mushrooms. The complex is a testament to the resort's sustainable development, helping to offer guests a truly environmentally friendly vacation.

After the Covid-19 pandemic, tourists tend to seek out nature more often, choosing more eco-friendly resorts. In the Bai Dai area, many resorts such as Alma, The Anam, Fusion Cam Ranh… have built farms for guests to visit and experience. These farms not only have vegetable gardens and fruit orchards, but also chicken farms. The resorts regularly organize farm visits so that guests can gain useful knowledge about gardening and chicken farming. Alma resort, in particular, offers cooking classes next to the garden, where guests can pick and cook healthy meals themselves; and listen to gardening experts share about local vegetables, herbs, and plants. "We are delighted to see our kitchen staff excited about each harvest from the farm, and to see guests of all ages visiting the farm with interest and curiosity. We always want our guests to have the most enriching experiences during their stay…," shared Herbert Laubichler-Pichler, Managing Director of Alma Resort.
Spreading the green tourism trend.
Besides high-end resorts, the trend of eco-tourism has spread throughout the land of agarwood. Tourist areas such as Ba Ho (Ninh Ich commune, Ninh Hoa district), Nong Trai Vui (Dien Lam commune, Dien Khanh district), Lang Nho - Ho Lang Nhot (Dien Tan commune, Dien Khanh district)... are attracting many tourists on weekends. At these destinations, visitors can immerse themselves in nature, strolling through lush, picturesque gardens filled with birdsong and babbling streams. Those who love agriculture can participate in harvesting, while others can relax on Ho Lang Nhot lake, enjoy the scenery, cycle along dirt roads, learn to cook, and enjoy afternoon tea while watching the sunset over the forest. Visitors can also relive their childhood through traditional games such as O An Quan (a traditional board game) and kite flying.

It's not just mountainous and rural tourist destinations that are considered green tourism; Khanh Hoa is aiming to green its tourism activities. Hotels and resorts in the land of agarwood have been gradually switching to using environmentally friendly materials, such as: using cloth bags instead of plastic bags, paper straws instead of plastic ones, glass water bottles, and even cosmetics.
Recently, in order to protect the marine environment, the Nha Trang Bay Management Board issued a notice prohibiting tourists from bringing plastic bags and single-use plastic products through Nha Trang Tourist Pier when going on sea and island tours.
Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa tourism is truly becoming greener!
Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh - Director of the Department of Tourism: The proactive development of green tourism by tourism businesses is encouraging. However, to develop green tourism, Khanh Hoa's tourism industry needs to implement a comprehensive green transformation in its tourism activities. Accordingly, the province is aiming to develop tourism based on respecting, preserving, and effectively promoting resource values; implementing green tourism management, business, and consumption activities; consuming less energy, developing and using renewable energy; and simultaneously creating jobs, improving livelihoods for people, contributing to building a green economy and achieving sustainable development goals.
