Building a Project to Summarize 10 Years of Implementing Resolution No. 22-NQ/TW of the Politburo on International Integration

STO - On the morning of August 2, at the Government Headquarters (Hanoi), the first meeting of the Steering Committee for the Project on Summarizing 10 Years of Implementing Resolution No. 22-NQ/TW of the Politburo on International Integration took place. Politburo member, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh - Head of the Steering Committee for the Project on "Summary of 10 Years of Implementing Resolution No. 22-NQ/TW, dated April 10, 2013 of the Politburo on International Integration" chaired the meeting.

The meeting was connected online from the Government Headquarters to the bridge points in 63 provinces and centrally-run cities. Attending the meeting at the Soc Trang province bridge point were comrade Vuong Quoc Nam - Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of provincial departments and branches.

In his opening speech, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized: The Party, State and people carry out the renovation process based on three pillars: eliminating bureaucracy and subsidies; implementing multiple ownership and international integration. Ten years ago, the 11th Politburo issued Resolution No. 22-NQ/TW on international integration. This is a document with strategic orientation significance, marking an important shift in the international integration thinking of the Party and State; unifying awareness and action in the period when our country began to strongly shift from "international economic integration" to "proactive, active international integration" comprehensively, extensively and effectively in all fields, from politics, national defense, security to culture, society, science and technology, education and training...

At the meeting, the leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the Prime Minister's decision on the establishment of the Steering Committee for the Project and the Steering Committee's decision on the promulgation of the Steering Committee's operating regulations; Central ministries, branches and localities in turn presented reports on the results of international integration work in the past and discussed the direction for implementing the summary of Resolution No. 22-NQ/TW in the coming time.

The Prime Minister stated that the implementation of Resolution No. 22-NQ/TW has contributed to the country achieving great and historic achievements. Since 2013, Vietnam has upgraded its relations with 7 countries to Strategic Partnership or Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and 7 countries to Comprehensive Partnership, contributing to creating a network of Strategic Partnerships and Comprehensive Partnerships with 33 countries, including all major countries; officially participating in peacekeeping activities; deeply participating in many FTAs and new-generation, high-standard trade links... contributing to consolidating and enhancing a favorable and open foreign situation for the country's development.

In addition to the basic results and achievements, the implementation of the resolution still has limitations. The Prime Minister asked the delegates to focus on evaluating the results, shortcomings, limitations and lessons learned in the implementation of Resolution No. 22-NQ/TW; propose policies, orientations, tasks and solutions for the coming time so that the steering committee can report to competent authorities for consideration and decision.
