How do vehicles move in Ho Chi Minh City on New Year's Eve?

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport announced traffic adjustments on Nguyen Hue Street (District 1) to serve the countdown event to the new year 2024.

Accordingly, vehicles are prohibited from entering Nguyen Hue Street (from Le Thanh Ton Street to Ton Duc Thang Street) on the evening of Saturday, December 30 (from 6:00 p.m. to the end of the day) and from 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 31 to 1:00 a.m. on January 1, 2024.

Alternative routes to avoid traffic jams are as follows:

For the direction from Le Thanh Ton Street to Ton Duc Thang Street: Route 1 from Le Thanh Ton Street → Dong Khoi Street → Ton Duc Thang Street. Route 2 from Le Thanh Ton Street → Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street → Ham Nghi Street → Ton Duc Thang Street.

For the direction from Ton Duc Thang Street to Le Thanh Ton Street: Route 1 from Ton Duc Thang Street → Ham Nghi Street → Pasteur Street → Le Thanh Ton Street. Route 2 from Ton Duc Thang Street → Me Linh Square → Hai Ba Trung Street → Le Thanh Ton Street.

The Department of Transport notes that drivers need to follow the instructions of traffic control forces, traffic police or the instructions of the traffic sign system on the road.

Vehicles of individuals and organizations located in the affected area that need to circulate during the restricted period should directly contact the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City for support and traffic facilitation.

In addition, during the 2024 New Year, Ho Chi Minh City will have many activities to welcome the New Year including fireworks and cultural and artistic programs.

Specifically, the city will organize a 15-minute fireworks display (0:00-0:15) on January 1, 2024 at two locations: the roof of the Thu Thiem tunnel across the Saigon River and Dam Sen Cultural Park.

On the two nights of December 31 and January 1, 2024, many art and cultural performances to welcome the New Year were simultaneously held in Thu Duc City, a number of districts, Thanh Nien Cultural Houses, universities, colleges, vocational schools, dormitories, export processing zones, and industrial parks in the area.

In addition, regarding sports activities, the city also plans to organize the 10th Ho Chi Minh City Marathon, a martial arts festival, and an amateur cycling race on Mai Chi Tho Street (Thu Duc City).
