Water truck washes street after sinking into pothole on Hanoi street.

A street cleaning water truck got its wheel stuck in a pothole at the intersection of Trang Thi and Quan Su streets (Hanoi), forcing the driver to drain some water to reduce the load for rescue operations.

At approximately 1 PM on May 25th, a street cleaning water truck passing through the intersection of Trang Thi and Quan Su streets (Cua Nam ward, Hanoi ) unexpectedly had its front wheel sink into a hole in an area where drainage pipes were under construction, causing the vehicle to become stuck and unable to move.

According to observations at the scene, the sinkhole is approximately 0.5 meters wide and is located in the middle of the intersection.

Following the incident, authorities dispatched a crane to assist. The driver had to drain some of the water from the tank to reduce its weight, facilitating the rescue operation.

Recently, Hanoi has recorded many cases of road subsidence in areas where construction is underway. Ten days ago, a car traveling on Quan Su Street (near the entrance to K Hospital) also had its front wheel sink into a hole.

The Hanoi Department of Construction has requested the City's Technical Infrastructure Management Center to urgently review and repair damaged roadbeds and surfaces on a series of ongoing construction routes such as Nguyen Trai, Phan Chu Trinh, Quang Trung, Ly Thai To, etc., in order to ensure traffic safety. The Department emphasized that traffic accidents caused by infrastructure damage during construction must be prevented.

Road restoration must be carried out in sections, with each section completed before proceeding to the next. In case of damage to the infrastructure, the contractor must repair and restore it to its original condition.

Construction units must strengthen dust control and environmental sanitation, implement shielding, vehicle washing, and dust reduction spraying; materials and waste must be completely covered to prevent dispersal into the environment.
