On August 24, the Department of Education and Training of Xin Man district organized a seminar on comprehensive reproductive health and sexual health education for secondary school students. The program is part of the project to protect ethnic minority children and youth aged 11-24 in Ha Giang from child marriage and incestuous marriage.

Attending the seminar were Mr. Duong Van Tuy, Director of Plan Office in Ha Giang region; Dr. Nguyen Thi Chinh, Institute of Psychology, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences; Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Minh, Deputy Head of Education and Training Department, Head of Plan Project Management Board, Xin Man District Education and Training Department; leaders of secondary schools, leaders of 3 communes in the project including Nan Ma, Nam Dan and Ta Nhiu.
The workshop evaluated the comprehensive reproductive health and sexual healtheducation at secondary schools in the three communes under the project, highlighting the outstanding achievements and limitations, difficulties and causes for discussion by delegates.
Currently, in addition to the 3 secondary schools in the 3 communes of the project, more and more schools are recognizing the importance of reproductive health and sexual education for students. The curriculum has integrated topics related to reproductive health, safe sex and social responsibility. Some schools have begun to integrate knowledge about reproductive health and sexuality into other subjects such as Biology and Civic Education, helping students access knowledge in a natural and age-appropriate way.
At the workshop, delegates also discussed, made proposals and comments for the comprehensive sex education guide; at the same time, agreed on a number of viewpoints on sex and sexuality education for implementation in the coming time.
Comprehensive reproductive health and sexual health education in secondary schools needs to be promoted and improved to ensure that students have the necessary knowledge, helping them protect their health and build a healthier life./.
