Many singers use AI artificial intelligence
Artificial intelligence AI is increasingly taking a place in all aspects of life and has appeared in the music industry. Many singers around the world have used this technology to create music products.
In Korea, SM Entertainment has pioneered the use of AI to create a virtual version of the group aespa, with four members created by artificial intelligence. In early June, American singer Washed Out made headlines when it released the music video “The Hardest Part” made entirely by Sora, an AI tool developed by Open AI. This is also considered the first music video made entirely by artificial intelligence tools.
In July 2024, a Japanese artist named Arata Fukoe also used tools such as ChatGPT, Midjourney and Kling to create a music video. This music video is only 0.38 seconds long but includes sharp images and graphics that are not inferior to a music video made by a human. Although admitting that there are still small errors in the music video, Arata Fukoe feels satisfied with the results.
According to artist Arata Fukoe, AI is opening up new creative possibilities, helping artists reduce their dependence on traditional studios. AI can handle multiple tasks at once - something that previously required a large team.
In Vietnam, the application of artificial intelligence technology to music videos has also been applied by some artists. The MV “Em oi vi dau” by singer Dan Truong is considered the first MV in Vietnam to be made entirely by AI. Or Ha Anh Tuan and Vu Thanh Van also have the first AI applications in music products.
There is still controversy
At present, for a field that requires a lot of emotion and authenticity, artificial intelligence technology seems to only be able to play a supporting role because the audience needs more from an artist - sharing and empathy through each product instead of just soulless images created by AI.
Despite being a pioneer, daring to challenge with novelty, however, the MV “Em oi vi dau” by singer Dan Truong has encountered controversy from the audience since its release. The flaws in this MV are considered unacceptable in a music product brought to the public, the image of Dan Truong in this MV is criticized as being stiff and emotionless.
