Many passengers monitor promotional offers well in advance to choose discounted tickets, significantly reducing travel costs during peak season.
From transit airports in Europe and North America to aviation hotspots in the Asia- Pacific , international passenger traffic is entering its busiest period of the year, with passengers filling both domestic and international routes. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) forecasts that by 2025, the number of air passengers worldwide could reach 5.2 billion, an increase of nearly 7% compared to 2024 and exceeding 5 billion passengers annually for the first time.
Low-cost airlines are experiencing strong growth.
The surge in travel demand has also led to a strong growth wave for low-cost carriers (LCCs), as more and more passengers choose tickets from these airlines during the peak year-end season.
According to global market research and consulting firm Mordor Intelligence, more than 1.4 billion global passengers will choose to fly with low-cost carriers (LCCs) in 2025, an increase of nearly 10% compared to the previous year. Along with that, the average satisfaction level for LCCs in 2024 reached 7.3/10, indicating that the flying experience is increasingly meeting the needs of individual customers.
In addition to offering accessible prices, low-cost carriers (LCCs) also possess advantages such as extensive flight networks at secondary airports, high flight frequencies, and flexible maneuverability on short- to medium-haul routes. As a result, LCCs are gradually establishing themselves as the "backbone" of the domestic aviation market in many countries, especially during periods of surge in demand.

The craze for budget tickets in Vietnam.
The Vietnamese aviation market has started its peak Tet (Lunar New Year) season early in 2026 with a wave of ticket bookings beginning in September 2025.
On major routes and for visiting relatives, many flights in the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year) have recorded occupancy rates exceeding 80%. Some routes such as Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang, or Ho Chi Minh City - Vinh have even begun to experience a shortage of economy class tickets during peak hours.
From the beginning of December 2025, Tet holiday airfare prices started to heat up, with many passengers monitoring promotional programs early to choose budget-friendly tickets, significantly reducing travel costs during the peak season.
Ms. Nguyen Thu Van (Ho Chi Minh City) shared that she prioritizes booking Vietjet tickets because the airline frequently offers attractive promotions for all routes.
"Due to the nature of my work, every year I usually have to buy tickets at the last minute, so the tickets for my husband and I for the Tet holiday sometimes cost over 20 million VND, which is a really large expense compared to our average income. This year I closely followed Vietjet's promotional programs to book tickets early and managed to get very good prices. Many of my friends are still worried because the common ticket prices of other airlines have already reached 7-8 million VND/one-way," Ms. Van shared.
Also determined to buy budget-friendly tickets, Mr. Hoang Quoc Dung (Dong Nai) said he had bought tickets for the Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi route so that his whole family could return to their hometown in Bac Ninh for Tet from the end of November 2025.
"I managed to buy Vietjet tickets at a lower price than the average, and I heard that the airline has added more aircraft to serve the peak Tet holiday period, so I'm very reassured and looking forward to my flight," said Mr. Dung.

In addition to promotional programs for economy class tickets, Vietjet also offers ideal ticket classes for passengers needing maximum flexibility in their journey, including Skyboss class with lounge access, priority check-in, free baggage allowance, 5-star meal service and private shuttle to the aircraft…; Deluxe class with free checked baggage, seat selection and changes to date, time, and flight route…
Vietjet is also one of the airlines that has added the most aircraft, with 22 planes to serve the needs of passengers returning home, visiting relatives, and traveling during the Tet holiday.
At Tan Son Nhat Airport, Vietjet has switched to handling all ground handling services itself. Proactively managing operations at major airports significantly reduces congestion during peak hours and provides a smoother, more seamless travel experience for passengers, even during periods of high traffic.
Tet (Lunar New Year) is always the busiest time of year for the aviation industry, so planning your travel and buying tickets early will help passengers save money and be ready for reunions, family gatherings, and spring trips.
