Strangers appear to be loitering around school areas in Hanoi

On the afternoon of March 17, a representative of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted said that recently, the school discovered a stranger loitering around the school gate. This person was wearing a closed outfit, a mask, and a hat.

This person appeared at the school gate at the end of the school day, talking and communicating in a foreign language with students. The school suspected that the subject had mental problems, so they reported it to the police and asked the security guards at the school gate to be more vigilant, the representative added.

Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted has notified all parents and students not to communicate with strangers outside the school gate. The school also requires students not to hang around or follow, and absolutely not to provide personal information to ensure safety.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huy Thanh, Head of Trung Hoa Ward Police (Cau Giay, Hanoi) said that the unit has received information and images extracted from the school's camera reporting the above issue. To ensure the safety of students, the police have sent officers and soldiers to monitor the suspect's movements.

"If there is anything unusual, we will coordinate with the school to clarify the incident and prevent possible bad risks," Mr. Thanh shared.

In recent days, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and many other provinces have continuously warned about scams related to students and parents, including the trick of "urgent money transfer, child is in emergency care in the hospital".

According to data from the Ministry of Public Security , from the beginning of March 2023 to now, Ho Chi Minh City alone has recorded 14 cases of parents being scammed using the "urgent money transfer, emergency child" trick, totaling VND 825,000,000. This incident has had a negative impact, creating confusion and anxiety for parents, students, and pupils about ensuring security and safety in schools and educational institutions.
