Spontaneous tours appear to "deserted islands" in Ha Long Bay

On July 25, the leader of the People's Committee of Ha Long City ( Quang Ninh Province) said that he had assigned the functional forces of Ha Long City to review and strictly manage spontaneous wharves, and strictly prevent and handle water vehicles entering and leaving to pick up tourists for illegal entertainment on "deserted islands" in Ha Long Bay.

According to the People's Committee of Ha Long City, in recent days, on social networks such as Facebook and Tiktok, there has been a lot of information about tourists renting ships, boats, and canoes to carry out spontaneous tours to the island areas of Ha Long Bay.

Notably, these islands have not been permitted by state management agencies to exploit tourism activities (these islands are collectively known as "deserted islands" located in the Ha Long Bay complex). After being posted, this information received a lot of attention and was shared on social networks.

Immediately upon receiving the information, the People's Committee of Ha Long City issued a document on rectifying and handling spontaneous tours on the Bay.

In particular, the Ha Long Bay Management Board is requested to direct departments, offices, units, and People's Committees of communes and wards to strengthen the inspection and management of ships, boats, and canoes that spontaneously carry tourists to visit the island area even though they have not been permitted by the state management agency to operate on the Bay. During the inspection and verification process, the authorities have handled 1 violation with a fine of 7.5 million VND.

Regarding spontaneous tourism activities in Ha Long Bay, the People's Committee of Ha Long City recommends that people and tourists be vigilant against information about spontaneous tours to "deserted islands" in Ha Long Bay that have not been permitted by state management agencies to exploit tourism activities of organizations and individuals on social networks.

Ha Long City also requested the Quang Ninh Department of Tourism to request travel service businesses not to post information related to spontaneous tours to the island area of Ha Long Bay that have not been permitted by the state management agency to exploit tourism activities; Assign local units and functional agencies of the city to step up propaganda work on punishing spontaneous tourism activities. At the same time, strictly manage spontaneous wharves, prevent and strictly handle water vehicles entering and leaving to pick up people for entertainment, recreation, and illegal sightseeing of Ha Long Bay.
