On the morning of May 24, in Quang Ngai province, the memorial service for former President Tran Duc Luong was held at Hall T50 of the Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command; the Hall of the Duc Pho Town Media - Culture - Sports Center and the Hall of the People's Committee of Pho Khanh Commune - the hometown of comrade Tran Duc Luong.
Delegations, along with family, relatives, and people from the homeland of "Nui An - Song Tra" came to pay their respects to former President Tran Duc Luong.

The delegation of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Ngai province, led by Mr. Tran Hoang Tuan, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, respectfully paid tribute to former President Tran Duc Luong.

According to the Organizing Committee, this morning, 59 delegations from inside and outside Quang Ngai province registered to visit comrade Tran Duc Luong at Hall T50.
In Pho Khanh commune (Duc Pho town, Quang Ngai province), the hometown of comrade Tran Duc Luong, from the morning of May 24, the locality reserved a large hall to hold a memorial service for the former President. Many delegations of officials, leaders, revolutionary veterans, veterans, units and people came to pay their respects to the former President.

Visiting former President Tran Duc Luong, Mr. Nguyen Xu, Chairman of the Patriotic Prisoners Association of Pho Khanh Commune, emotionally said: "Hearing the news of Uncle Tran Duc Luong's death, we were very sad and moved! He was a son of Pho Khanh, a leader of the Party and State who always devoted himself to the country and was close to the people."

According to Mr. Xu, when he returned to his hometown, he heard the farmers of Pho Khanh talk about having large fields but always suffering from drought, water shortage, and crop failure, Mr. Tran Duc Luong was very concerned. He went to discuss many times and suggested that the locality should soon invest in and upgrade the Dien Truong irrigation reservoir to satisfy the people's long-standing wishes. Since then, Mr. Tran Duc Luong has always closely followed the construction of the Dien Truong reservoir so that when the reservoir is completed, it can supply water to hundreds of hectares of agricultural land in the whole region.

“Up to now, the reservoir has provided water for nearly 400 hectares of rice fields of Pho Khanh people. Every year, people grow 2-3 crops, local food production has doubled, farmers are grateful to Uncle Luong. When we heard that he chose to return to his hometown to rest, we villagers agreed and were very moved. Everyone wanted to come and see him off,” Mr. Xu added.

Mr. Pham Dinh Khoi, former Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee (term 2005-2010) expressed that comrade Tran Duc Luong was a son with special and deep affection for his homeland. Every time he returned to his hometown and worked with the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee, the former President always had concerns and worries about many aspects of socio-economic development, social security, taking care of the people, culture, history... of his homeland.
“For us and future generations of leaders in Quang Ngai, comrade Tran Duc Luong is a worthy example to learn from, practice, and follow. He came from a poor countryside, but he constantly studied, practiced, and cultivated himself to hold many important positions in the country. During his revolutionary career, comrade Tran Duc Luong devoted himself, and today he returns to rest in his hometown, where he is deeply respected by the people...”, Mr. Pham Dinh Khoi emphasized.
