Insulting the police force on Facebook, an individual was fined 5 million VND

(HBĐT) - On June 8, Mai Chau District Police announced that the unit had issued a decision to administratively sanction Kha Van D. (born in 1998), residing in Na Phon commune, for posting articles with content that insults the reputation of organizations and individuals as prescribed in Article 101, Decree No. 15/2020/ND-CP, dated February 3, 2020 of the Government on administrative sanctions in the fields of post, telecommunications, radio frequencies, information technology and electronic transactions.

Kha Van D worked with the functional unit of Mai Chau District Police after insulting and defaming the police force on social networks.

Previously, on May 6, 2023, in the area of the road belonging to Pom Coong residential group, Mai Chau town, Kha Van D. was inspected by the Traffic Police - Order, Mai Chau District Police, discovered violating regulations on alcohol concentration when driving a motorbike in traffic, administratively fined 2.5 million VND and temporarily detained the vehicle. During the process of being detected and handled by the functional force, Kha Van D. used a mobile phone to record.

After returning home, Kha Van D. used his personal Facebook account to post an article about the Traffic Police force, including a caption with insulting, obscene, disparaging, and threatening words about the police force, along with a photo and a self-recorded video of the traffic police force handling the violation. The article attracted many views, likes, and comments from the community.

After learning about the incident, the District Police directed the functional team to verify and resolve it according to the provisions of law.

During the process of working with the Security agency, Kha Van D. realized that his behavior was wrong, thoughtless while drunk, affecting the reputation, honor and dignity of the Police force.

Based on the nature and level of the violation, pursuant to Article 101, Decree No. 15/2020/ND-CP, dated February 3, 2020 of the Government, the District Police issued a decision to administratively fine Kha Van D. VND 5 million; Kha Van D. has completed the payment of the fine at the District State Treasury.
