Huong Thuy has many potentials and advantages to promote socio-economic development, contributing to the overall development of Hue City. First of all, Huong Thuy is conveniently located in a strategic geographical area on important traffic routes such as National Highway 1A, North-South railway and Phu Bai International Airport. Huong Thuy is a convenient connection point for expanding economic exchanges between Hue and the whole country, integrating with Southeast Asia and the world, contributing to expanding the urban development space of the city.

The town's industry has achieved rapid growth. In the town, there is Phu Bai Industrial Park (IP) which is the economic center of the city and Thuy Phuong Industrial Cluster (IC) which has focused on attracting many industrial projects and large factories. In the area, there is Gilimex Industrial Park which is gradually being completed, continuing to call for investment in Thuy Phuong 2 IP, Thuy Chau IP; thereby, creating jobs and increasing income for the people.

The appearance of the town, especially the transport infrastructure and the electricity and clean water systems, has been changing positively. Along with economic growth, social life issues are constantly improving,the education and health sectors are strengthened in both facilities and quality of activities.

Huong Thuy Town has many historical and cultural relics ranked at national and city levels; and famous traditional handicraft villages. This is the potential and strength of the town that can be exploited to develop tourism and services into key economic sectors.

How do you evaluate the utilization and exploitation of local potential and advantages?

Huong Thuy Town has effectively exploited its potential in terms of geographical location and transport infrastructure to strongly develop industry and services, especially expanding Phu Bai Industrial Park and taking advantage of Phu Bai International Airport. The locality focuses on investing in urban infrastructure, developing satellite urban space in the south of the city, contributing to regulating population pressure.

Huong Thuy also has investments and solutions to preserve and promote cultural and historical relics, develop tourism associated with local culture, improve quality of life and social security.

Based on effective investment in exploiting potential and advantages, can you evaluate the outstanding achievements?

The town's economy has grown steadily, with a positive shift in structure towards industry - services - agriculture; budget revenue is as planned. Notably, in 2024, the budget revenue target will exceed 30% of the estimate, exceeding 110 billion VND. Total social investment capital is about 5,500 billion VND, reaching 114.5% of the plan.

Phu Bai Industrial Park has developed strongly with a scale of nearly 400 hectares filled and the infrastructure of Gilimiex Industrial Park is being invested to complete with a scale of 460 hectares; along with Thuy Phuong Industrial Park of 75 hectares, not only creating jobs for thousands of workers but also promoting the development of industry and services. The town also has 552 small and medium enterprises operating with a total investment capital of thousands of billions of VND and creating jobs for more than 25,800 workers.

Urban and traffic infrastructure has developed synchronously, many roads have been upgraded and expanded; focusing on investment in urban beautification and development in a synchronous and modern direction, creating a new look for Huong Thuy, notably the Thanh Lam field area, the 2/9 intersection, and Ba Cua park. In addition to forming parks and green spots, the roads in the area have also been upgraded with underground technical infrastructure systems, clean and spacious paved sidewalks, and a green tree system to create urban beauty; forming new modern urban areas.

Phu Son Waste-to-Energy Plant was started construction with a total investment of nearly 1,700 billion VND on an area of ​​over 11 hectares. This is the largest domestic waste treatment plant in the city, with a capacity to process about 600 tons of waste per day/night and can provide about 93 million kWh of green electricity per year.

The banking system has developed with 14 branches, creating favorable conditions for businesses, business households and people to access modern financial services, promoting capital circulation, supporting local economic development. Phu Bai International Airport has been invested in large-scale upgrade, creating momentum for the development of the southern economic zone of the city.

What are the difficulties of Huong Thuy in socio-economic development, sir?

Huong Thuy has encountered difficulties in the process of socio-economic development. Notably, urban management and planning still have many shortcomings; the urbanization speed is fast but the planning work is not synchronous, there is still a situation of spontaneous construction and land encroachment. The town has encountered difficulties in the process of shifting from an agricultural economy to an industrial and service economy, developing the economy in conjunction with preserving and promoting cultural identity and protecting the environment; attracting investors and businesses requires attractive incentive policies to compete with other localities. Although industry and services have developed, they still depend on a number of industries such as textiles and food processing. The development of high-tech agriculture and high-quality services has not been commensurate with its potential.

Huong Thuy will focus on solutions to promote socio-economic development?

Huong Thuy will focus on key directions to promote socio-economic development, such as: Attracting investment in industry, currently there are investors researching investment in Thuy Phuong 2 Industrial Park, Thuy Chau Industrial Park... The town upgrades traffic infrastructure and urban development, expanding urban space in the south of the city; at the same time, many modern, multi-functional urban areas will be formed such as: Thanh Toan Ecological Urban Area; Phu Bai International Airport Auxiliary Urban Area; Area A, Area E of An Van Duong Urban Area; Thanh Lam Urban Area...

The town has oriented and had policies to invest in developing high-tech agriculture, aiming at clean and sustainable production; doing a good job of administrative reform, improving the investment environment, creating favorable conditions for businesses and people in the process of investing in the area...
