The organization of the 50th anniversary of the complete liberation of the South and national reunification, including the military parade, has great political significance and strong encouragement.
Studying Ho Chi Minh Complete Works, President Ho Chi Minh mentioned the word “parade” 11 times and the word “parade” twice. The first time he used the word “parade” was in the article “The Verdict of the French Colonial Regime” when criticizing: “Everywhere and always, it is the same: lantern processions, fireworks, parades, dancing at the Governor’s Palace, flower car races, fundraisers for the country, advertisements, speeches, parties, etc.” (Ho Chi Minh, Complete Works, volume 2, National Political Publishing House, Hanoi , p. 34).
The next four times he mentioned it were all in “President Ho's Travel Diary” written in 1945, where he followed diplomatic protocol when visiting countries in his capacity as President and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The sixth time, he criticized Hitler in the article "The Great Soviet Union" when he boastfully declared: "On October 2, 1941, Hitler declared that on November 7 (the anniversary of the October Revolution), he would parade troops in Moscow" (Ibid, volume 7, page 99).
The 7th, 8th and 9th times were just a reiteration of the title of the article “Talking to the units participating in the parade on January 1, 1955 in Hanoi Capital” and the table of contents of volume 9, but he only focused on thoroughly understanding the advantages, difficulties, and tasks of the revolution, motivating and assigning tasks to the Army. He concluded: “Finally, Uncle Ho reminds you: Currently, the task of the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army is to fight to consolidate peace, achieve unification, and complete independence and democracy throughout the country. In that task, the army plays a very important role. To fulfill that task, you must do it correctly, and carry out Uncle Ho's instructions” (ibid., volume 9, p. 22).
The 10th and 11th times were used by Him in the article "THE DIEM TALKS", published in Nhan Dan Newspaper, No. 556, September 10, 1955. President Ho Chi Minh exposed the Diem gang when they distorted the parade on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of National Day September 2: "Regarding National Day September 2, the radio and press of the Diem gang published the following news: "... On September 2, the scene of Hanoi's streets was desolate and gloomy, as if carrying an endless sadness... The parade started again, making everyone extremely bored... About 100 people were forced to go, gradually returning under the gloomy rain".
As if to dispel the distorted argument, He quoted the French news agency "AFP" which wrote the following: "Participating in the parade were about 5,000 soldiers, extremely well-organized... In 2 hours, 120,000 people inside and outside Hanoi marched with an indescribable spirit of excitement, under a forest of red flags with yellow stars and blue flags embroidered with white birds of peace...".

During his lifetime, Uncle Ho was very interested in military parades and reviews. He met directly with and encouraged soldiers to participate in military parades many times. The military parade during the ceremony welcoming President Ho, the Party Central Committee and the Government back to the Capital on January 1, 1955 was the first time Vietnam organized a military parade.
This historical event was chosen by General Vo Nguyen Giap as the highlight in the conclusion of his memoir Dien Bien Phu - Historical Rendezvous, with emotional lines: “ On January 1, 1955, the Government and the Party Central Committee returned to Hanoi, Uncle Ho met his compatriots again at Ba Dinh Square, where nine years before he read the historic Declaration of Independence. Uncle Ho's smile on the podium will shine forever in the new history of Hanoi following Dong Do and Thang Long in the past.
We held the first major military parade in Hanoi, a parade in which the troops and guerrillas carried only French and American weapons, from light weapons, heavy weapons, to means of communication, all of which were spoils of war captured in combat .
In April 1960, the students of the Quang Yen Artillery Non-Commissioned Officer School (Quang Ninh) were ordered to go to Bach Mai airport, Hanoi to practice for the parade on National Day September 2. Uncle Ho visited and encouraged the soldiers. He appeared in a simple and friendly mahogany outfit, with rosy skin and bright eyes, shining with joy. The 18 marching groups in the airport were silent. Announcer Tuyet Mai's voice resounded as she reported the formation of the groups participating in the rehearsal. Standing on the stage, Uncle Ho excitedly looked at the entire line of soldiers. At the end of the session, Uncle Ho kindly instructed the soldiers: This time, you are participating in the parade with many foreign guests. I want you and I to meet each other first, otherwise when you pass the stage, some of you will look up and it will reduce the seriousness.
As for the "parade", in the article "Talking with journalists in Moscow" on November 21, 1957, he mentioned the significance of the parade: " Attending the demonstration, we witnessed the excitement of the great Soviet people in the struggle for peace and communism. The parade and demonstration showed us that the people and the army were closely united around the Party and the Government. The presence of hundreds of foreign delegations coming here to attend the October Revolution anniversary was a very meaningful event."

In the context of the country entering a new period of development, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South - National Reunification, towards the 100th anniversary of the founding of Vietnam (1945 - 2045), the decision of our Party and State to organize a military parade is completely correct, very necessary, and has the support of all the people.
Today's parade is not for show, but to arouse patriotism, national pride, and demonstrate the strength of solidarity and the will to rise up of the Vietnamese people in the new era. It is also a declaration to the world that: Vietnam is a peace-loving but resilient and indomitable nation, always ready to defend independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The first military parade under President Ho Chi Minh on January 1, 1955, after the Dien Bien Phu victory, not only declared the strength of the people's army, but also affirmed the mettle of a small but indomitable nation, defeating the most powerful enemies.
Since then, major military parades have been associated with sacred milestones: national unification, sovereignty protection, and national development.
Today's parade continues that tradition, while also lighting up the aspiration for a strong and prosperous Vietnam by 2045.
We march not only to honor the past, but to affirm our determination to win in both peace and integration.
On April 30, Ho Chi Minh City will hold a national parade to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025). According to the Organizing Committee, the national parade to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification will officially take place at 6:30 a.m. on April 30, 2025, at the same time as the anniversary ceremony. Starting at 6:30 a.m. on April 30, the forces will depart from the intersection of Le Duan and Nguyen Binh Khiem streets, moving through the main stage in front of the Reunification Hall. At the end of this schedule, the forces will split into 4 directions and move towards the assembly point.
