Do Son buffalo fighting festival.
On the eve of the 2024 spring festival season, continuing to direct the strengthening of festival management and organization in localities, the Department of Grassroots Culture (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) has just sent documents to provinces and cities such as Hanoi, Hai Phong, Nam Dinh, Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho to closely monitor festivals with large crowds in the area.
Accordingly, Hanoi closely monitors the Huong Pagoda festival (My Duc district) and the Soc Temple festival (Soc Son district).
Phu Tho must develop plans and methods to closely inspect and monitor festivals that attract large crowds in the area, such as: Phet Festival (Hien Quan Commune, Tam Nong District); Cau Trau Festival (Huong Nha Commune and Bac Son Commune, Tam Nong District).
Vinh Phuc must closely monitor the following festivals: Buddha Casting (Dong Tinh Commune, Tam Duong District); Phet Robbery (Ban Gian Commune, Lap Thach District); Buffalo Fighting (Hai Luu Commune, Song Lo District).
Nam Dinh must closely monitor festivals: Tran Temple Seal Opening Ceremony (Loc Vuong Ward, Nam Dinh City), Phu Day Festival (Vu Ban District).
Hai Phong must closely monitor the Do Son buffalo fighting festival (Do Son district)...
In addition, the Department of Grassroots Culture recommends that localities strengthen state management measures on festivals, in order to strictly implement relevant legal regulations. In particular, it is noted that localities organizing festivals must ensure solemnity, proper traditional rituals and Vietnamese cultural identity values.
Localities need to implement solutions to eliminate or replace customs that are no longer suitable for today's life; organize inspections, checks, and supervision before, during, and after organizing festivals; promptly prevent and strictly handle violations in festival activities, acts of taking advantage of relics, festivals, and beliefs for personal gain, etc.
