In the 2025-2026 school year, Hanoi National University of Education High School for the Gifted will enroll 420 students in grade 10, including 8 specialized subjects: Math, Informatics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature, English, and Geography.
In which, each specialized block of Math, Literature, English, Chemistry recruits 70 quotas, the remaining specialized blocks each recruit 35 quotas.
Sharing with VietNamNet , Dr. Vu Van Tien, Principal of the High School for Gifted Students of the University of Education (under Hanoi National University of Education) said that this year, according to statistics, by the registration deadline, the school received 5,678 applications for the exam (this number in 2024 was 5,382), of which English is still the specialized subject with the largest number.
Specifically, with 1,604 applications for the exam, while the quota is 70, the competition ratio of the English major is up to 1/22.9; that is, nearly 23 students taking the exam, 1 is taken. Ranked second is the Information Technology major, with 35 quotas but up to 670 applications for the exam, the competition ratio is 1/19.1; that is, 19 students taking the exam, 1 is taken.
The Literature and Physics majors are ranked next, respectively, with the ratio of 1/13.1. The Geography major has the lowest competition ratio, with about 1 out of 7 students taking the exam.

Hanoi National University of Education High School for the Gifted recruits candidates nationwide. The condition for taking the exam is that candidates must have good or better academic and training results for the entire year of secondary school classes.
The 2025 entrance exam for grade 10 of Hanoi National University of Education High School for the Gifted will take place on June 4 and 5.
All candidates must take 3 common exams including: Literature (round 1) in 120 minutes, Math (round 1) in 120 minutes and English (round 1) in 60 minutes.
Candidates take specialized subjects corresponding to the specialized class they register for, including Math for candidates applying for the Math and Informatics majors; Informatics for candidates applying for the Informatics major; Literature for candidates applying for the Literature major; English for candidates applying for the English major.
For Natural Science, the exam is for specialized classes according to the content: Physics specialized class (Energy and transformation circuit), Chemistry specialized class (Substance circuit and change of matter) and Biology specialized class (Living matter circuit); History and Geography subjects are for specialized Geography classes according to the sub-subject (Geography sub-subject).
The specialized subjects take 150 minutes/exam, except for the specialized English subject exam and the Natural Science subject exam for candidates applying for the specialized Chemistry class which takes 120 minutes/exam.
Candidates included in the admission list must meet the admission requirements, take all 4 exams, not violate exam regulations, and have no exam score below 3.5 points.
Admission score
- For candidates taking the entrance exam for specialized classes in Mathematics, Information Technology, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography: the scores of Literature (round 1) and English (round 1) are conditions and are not used to calculate the admission score; the admission score is the total score of Mathematics (round 1) multiplied by coefficient 1 and the score of specialized subjects multiplied by coefficient 2.
- For candidates taking the entrance exam for specialized Literature classes: Math (round 1) and English (round 1) scores are conditions and are not used to calculate the admission score; the admission score is the total score of the Literature exam (round 1) multiplied by coefficient 1 and the specialized subject exam score multiplied by coefficient 2.
- For candidates taking the English specialized classes: The Literature (round 1) and Math (round 1) scores are conditions and are not used to calculate the admission score; The admission score is the total English (round 1) score multiplied by coefficient 1 and the specialized subject score multiplied by coefficient 2.
Candidates note that the school does not add priority points in admission.
Exam results will be announced before June 30 on the website of Hanoi National University of Education or Hanoi National University of Education High School for the Gifted.
