Meanwhile, the number of Chinese tourists staying in Quang Ninh in previous years was as follows: About 1.63 million people in 2018; more than 1.5 million people in 2019; more than 100,000 people in 2020.
Particularly, the number of Chinese people entering and exiting the country for various purposes ( tourism , trade, visiting relatives, etc.) through Mong Cai Border Gate from the beginning of 2023 to the end of November 2023 is over 4 million people. Specifically, there were more than 2 million people entering the country, of which nearly 367,000 were passport holders; more than 1.67 million were passengers using travel documents.
There were more than 2 million people leaving the country, of which nearly 370,000 people used passports and nearly 1.7 million people used travel documents.
The second largest international tourist market is South Korea, with more than 165,000 visitors; followed by Taiwanese (China) visitors with more than 127,000 visitors.
The Indian tourist market ranked 4th, with nearly 67,000 guests staying. According to the Quang Ninh Department of Tourism, this is the first time the locality has welcomed such a large number of Indian tourists and the prospects for this market are very large.
Next in line are the US tourist markets, with more than 61,000 arrivals; France with more than 52,000 arrivals; Australia with more than 44,000 arrivals; the UK with more than 43,700 arrivals; Germany with nearly 37,000 arrivals and Malaysia with nearly 29,000 arrivals.
According to the representative of Quang Ninh Tourism Association, in previous years, Quang Ninh only welcomed 3,000-4,000 Indian tourists, including overnight stays and same-day arrivals. The same is true for Malaysian tourists.
“However, this year, the number of Indian and Malaysian tourists has increased dramatically. There were times when Indian tourists rented half of the resort in Bai Chay, Ha Long” - a representative of the Quang Ninh Tourism Association said.
According to a representative of the Quang Ninh Tourism Association, the number of Indian tourists is expected to increase sharply in the coming time, and Quang Ninh will continue to welcome large groups of tourists and large weddings of wealthy Indian families.
According to the Quang Ninh Department of Tourism, in 2023, the total number of tourists to Quang Ninh is estimated at 15.5 million, including about 2 million international visitors.
Meanwhile, in 2019, Quang Ninh welcomed over 14 million visitors, including 5.7 million international visitors. The World Natural Heritage Ha Long Bay in 2019 welcomed nearly 4.4 million visitors, including nearly 2.9 million international visitors, with the total revenue from ticket sales to visit the bay being over 1,200 billion VND.
In 2023, Ha Long Bay will welcome more than 2.46 million visitors, including more than 1.15 million international visitors, with revenue from ticket sales to Ha Long Bay reaching nearly 720 billion VND.
Yen Tu National Forest and Relic Site will welcome about 700,000 visitors in 2023, while in pre-pandemic years it usually welcomed about 1 million visitors/year.
