18 hectares of Tam Dao forest have just burned down

On the afternoon of April 16, speaking with Phap Luat Viet Nam newspaper, Mr. Ly Ngoc Mot - Chairman of the People's Committee of Dao Tru commune (Tam Dao district, Vinh Phuc province) said: The forest fire that occurred on the evening of April 15 in the commune was completely extinguished at 0:00 this morning, April 16.

"After measuring and counting, this afternoon, the authorities determined that about 18 hectares of production forest were burned down," Mr. Mot informed.

Authorities determined that the initial cause was that Ms. Trinh Thi Hong's family (Luc Lieu village, Dao Tru commune) was unable to control the fire while clearing vegetation, causing the fire to spread to the production forests of surrounding households.

The forest fire broke out fiercely and spread over an area of ​​about 18 hectares of production forest of households in Bo Ly commune, Tam Dao district (Vinh Phuc).

As reported by Phap Luat Viet Nam newspaper, at around 5:30 p.m. on April 15, the People's Committee of Tam Dao district received a report from the public about a forest fire that occurred in the district. The fire area was identified as a production forest in Luc Lieu village, Dao Tru commune, bordering the protective forest in Bo Ly commune.

Upon receiving the news, Tam Dao District People's Committee mobilized all forces to coordinate in order to contain the fire. At the scene, the authorities created a firebreak to control the fire.

At nearly 10 p.m. the same day, the fire spread to the forest of Bo Ly commune, Tam Dao district. However, the fire was basically controlled by the authorities.

By around 0:00 on April 16, the fire was basically extinguished, but many sparks, embers, and smoke still existed and smoldered in many areas.

Previously, on April 11, the People's Committee of Vinh Phuc province issued Official Dispatch No. 2774/UBND-NC1 on implementing Official Dispatch No. 35/CD-TTg of the Prime Minister and strengthening fire prevention and fighting work during the hot season.

In particular, the Chairman of the Vinh Phuc Provincial People's Committee requested the Chairmen of districts and cities, according to their functions and tasks, to continue to seriously, resolutely and effectively implement fire prevention, fighting and rescue work; review and strictly handle cases where fires and explosions cause serious damage in the area, agencies and units.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment is assigned to direct forest rangers, state forest owners, and organizations and individuals assigned or leased forests to strictly implement and strengthen their responsibility for forest fire prevention and control in the assigned areas.
