Travel back to the source with "one touch"

Recently, while surfing social networks, I came across a video about the Serepok River Ferry - a special national historical site associated with the legendary Truong Son route.

The video is less than two minutes long, but it introduces the monument quite impressively: in the middle of the pristine space of the great forest, the sound of flowing water, the mossy stone wall, the monument stele with full and clear information... All are recorded with a realistic camera angle, with the clear voice of a youth union member. Scrolling down to the comments section, a line of confidences made me pause: "I have never set foot in this place, but after watching this clip, I feel like I have just taken a trip back to the source."

Video clips introducing history are no longer “unique”. A new trend expressing “love of history” is spreading among the Youth Union. Young people use technology to tell local historical stories in a new, vivid and familiar language. They film video clips, make podcasts telling stories, design digital maps of resistance sites, recreate historical stories, and dress up as historical figures to serve their creative content. A young person (account name Diep37) with a video clip “ Discovering Dak Tuor - Dak Lak” posted on the social network Tik Tok in May 2024 attracted more than 800 likes, confided: “I just want you to know that the place where I was born is An Toan Khu commune, a heroic base. If someone watches the video and wants to visit, it means I have succeeded...”

Along with short video clips, QR codes introducing historical sites, relics and “red addresses” are also actively shared by the Youth Union on social networks, contributing to bringing history closer to the community. It may not be professional, but the most valuable thing is the spirit of initiative, creativity and love for historical values and national pride. There, each stone, each memorial stele is no longer “standing still”, but starting a new journey, walking with the times.

Dak Lak province has more than 60 historical and cultural relics that have been ranked, many of which are associated with important revolutionary milestones. However, not all relics attract visitors, partly because communication and promotion activities are still limited, not really "touching" the hearts of tourists. Meanwhile, social networks are developing strongly, becoming an indispensable part of the lives of young people, so putting relics "on air" is also a way to "keep the fire" of tradition alive in the language that young people use every day.

"Wherever there is a need, there is youth, wherever there is difficulty, there is youth", the Youth Union of the province is clearly demonstrating its pioneering role in promoting comprehensive digital transformation, including preserving and promoting the values of historical and cultural relics with modern technology. According to the Dak Lak Provincial Youth Union, there are currently 3 historical and revolutionary relics in the area that have been digitized: CADA Temple Historical - Cultural Relic (Ea Yong Commune, Krong Pac District), Mau Than 1968 Martyrs Memorial Historical Relic (Tan Hoa Ward, Buon Ma Thuot City), Dak Lak Province Resistance Base Historical Relic, 1965 - 1975 period (Krong Bong District). District and city-level Youth Unions currently manage 28 QR codes and a website system introducing "red addresses" in the locality.

To spread this activity more widely, the Provincial Youth Union selected typical relics to build pilot digital models, creating conditions for young union members to participate in collecting documents, designing digital content, applying AR/VR technology, developing digital maps... In addition, organizing creative competitions, forums, and training sessions will also create an environment for the young generation to realize their ideas and talents, connecting technology businesses to support resources for projects.

Today, traveling back to the source is not on buses or extracurricular activities, but can start with a touch of the screen, a viral video, a QR code, a widely shared hashtag - that is how the young generation is choosing to continue, renew, and preserve historical values.
