On October 24, the National Assembly Standing Committee passed a resolution on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units in Hai Duong province for the 2023-2025 period. The resolution takes effect from December 1, 2024.
Accordingly, Hai Duong reorganized 57 commune-level administrative units into 29 new units, reducing 28 units (27 communes, 1 ward). After the reorganization, Hai Duong province has 207 commune-level administrative units (151 communes, 46 wards, 10 towns).
29 new commune-level administrative units in 10 districts, towns and cities will officially come into operation from December 1. Specifically:
Hai Duong city has Le Thanh Nghi ward (merging Pham Ngu Lao and Le Thanh Nghi wards).
Binh Giang district has Thai Minh commune (merged from Binh Minh and Thai Hoc communes).
Thanh Ha district has the following communes: Cam Viet (merged from Viet Hong and Cam Che communes); Thanh Tan (merged from Thanh Xa and Thanh Thuy communes); Vinh Cuong (merged from Vinh Lap commune and Thanh Cuong commune); Thanh Ha town (merged from Thanh Khe commune and Thanh Ha town).
Cam Giang district has Phuc Dien commune (merged from Cam Dien and Cam Phuc communes); Cam Giang town (merged from Thach Loi commune and Cam Giang town).
Kim Thanh district has Vu Dung commune (merged from Co Dung and Thuong Vu communes); Lai Khe commune (merged from Lai Vu and Cong Hoa communes); Hoa Binh commune (merged from Binh Dan and Lien Hoa communes); Phu Thai town (merged from Phuc Thanh commune with Phu Thai town and part of Quynh Khe 1 village, Kim Xuyen commune); Kim Xuyen commune (remaining after adjusting the administrative boundaries of Quynh Khe 1 village).
Kinh Mon town has Duy Tan ward (merged from Hoanh Son commune and Duy Tan ward).
Ninh Giang district has the following communes: Kien Phuc (merged from Hong Phuc and Kien Quoc communes); Duc Phuc (merged from Van Phuc and Hong Duc communes); Binh Xuyen (merged from Dong Xuyen and Ninh Hai communes); Ninh Giang town (merged from Dong Tam commune and Ninh Giang town).
Tu Ky district has the following communes: Ky Son (merged from Ngoc Ky and Tai Son communes); Dan An (merged from Quang Nghiep and Dan Chu communes); Lac Phuong (merged from Phuong Ky and Cong Lac communes).
Nam Sach district has the following communes: Tran Phu (merged from Nam Trung and Nam Chinh communes); An Phu (merged from Phu Dien and An Lam communes); Quoc Tuan (merged from Thanh Quang and Quoc Tuan communes); Nam Sach town (merged from Nam Hong commune and Nam Sach town).
Gia Loc district has the following communes: Gia Tien (merged from Tan Tien and Gia Luong communes); Gia Phuc (merged from Gia Tan and Gia Khanh communes); Nhat Quang (merged from Nhat Tan and Dong Quang communes) and Quang Duc commune (merged from Quang Minh and Duc Xuong communes).
