To have a safe and effective 10th grade exam, what should candidates and parents do and not do?
BE CALM AND CONFIDENT
Mr. Nguyen Hong Thai, a school health worker at Nguyen Van Tang High School, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City, said that in order to be calm and confident during the exam, students need to study and practice thoroughly beforehand.
When TS enters the exam room, students are usually nervous and tense. According to Mr. Thai, to overcome this, students should take a deep breath and spend the first few minutes reading the exam carefully. When they see that the exam has some difficult parts, or they have not studied well enough, to regain their composure, they should first do the easy parts, the parts that will definitely get them points, and then do the more difficult parts.
Ms. Lai Thi Thuy Huong, a school health worker at Ho Chi Minh City Vocational College, said that many candidates often experience stomachaches in the exam room due to stress, nervousness, and excessive anxiety, which causes the intestines to be stimulated and the need to go to the toilet continuously. This greatly affects the time spent on the exam. Therefore, during the 10th grade exam days, parents should accompany and encourage their children on every path, so that they have good health and avoid excessive anxiety and stress.

SHOULD "GO THERE, COME HOME"
Recently, in Binh Thuan, a tragic drowning incident occurred. A male student who had just finished his 10th grade literature exam went swimming with his friend in a pond, leading to drowning and death. In response to this information, Ms. Lai Thi Thuy Huong advised parents to strengthen their reminders and supervision of their children. In particular, they should not be subjective before and during important exam days, especially in localities with many lakes, rivers, streams, and canals.
Candidates should not go out with friends without their parents' permission. At the same time, take time to rest and enjoy with your family to ensure the best health and safety during the exam. After finishing each subject, candidates should go home to eat and rest to ensure their health in preparation for the next subjects; do not go out on your own or go swimming in rivers, lakes, or the sea with friends to avoid unfortunate incidents.
PARENTS SHOULD ARRANGE AND ACCOMPANY THEIR CHILDREN
During the days of the 10th grade exam, a stable TS mentality is the most important thing. Doctor Phan Thi Thanh Ha, Head of the Department of Pediatrics - Infectious Diseases, District 8 Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City, advises parents, no matter how busy they are, to spend time accompanying their children during these days. Accompanying them can be taking them to the exam site, cooking hot meals for them, ensuring food hygiene and safety, reminding them to wake up on time, avoiding forgetting the exam time, reminding them to increase their resistance, preventing respiratory diseases to have good health to do the exam...
Accompanying also means that before the exam day, parents should remind their children to carefully check their personal documents, exam cards, pens, calculators, and watches that are allowed in the exam room. Don't let your parents scold you until the day of the exam: "How far have you studied?" Before that, you should spend time with your children at the exam site to avoid the situation where on the day of the exam they are panicking and trying to find their way, then get stuck in traffic, get lost, or be late... leading to panic and loss of composure.
In particular, according to Dr. Ha, on exam days, students are anxious, making it difficult to fall asleep and easily losing their composure. If children are allowed to drive themselves to the exam site, there is a potential risk of unsafety, and many unfortunate incidents may occur. Therefore, parents should arrange a time to pick up and drop off their children on exam days.
Ms. Lai Thi Thuy Huong also shared that the companionship of parents during the days of their children's 10th grade exams is also a way of asking about and encouraging them, helping them stay mentally comfortable. Parents should avoid putting more pressure on their children, not forcing them to follow their parents' wishes, not comparing them with other children, but should encourage them that no matter what the exam results are, their parents will always be by their side.
Don't stay up late
Doctor Phan Thi Thanh Ha said that the exam plan has been in place for a long time, students have had a long time to study and take the exam, so close to the exam date and during the exam days, students should not abuse foods containing caffeine - stimulants found in coffee, tea... and then concentrate on studying all night long.
Students should go to bed early, wake up early to have breakfast, review their lessons and then take the exam. This helps avoid the brain being "frozen" and not thinking clearly. Students need to get enough sleep to stay alert, regenerate energy to do well on the exam, and avoid falling asleep in the exam room. To relax and not be too stressed during these days, students can listen to music, move around, and do light exercise to keep their bodies healthy.
Parents' companionship during the 10th grade exam days is also a way to ask questions, encourage, and help children stay mentally comfortable.

DON'T TAKE A BREAK AND EAT STRANGE FOOD
Mr. Nguyen Hong Thai said that the very important thing that students and parents must pay attention to before and during exam days is to only eat familiar foods and avoid strange foods.
There are situations that many families have encountered: "Tomorrow the children have an exam, tonight the whole family should rest and relax, go out to a restaurant to relax their mind". Meals that are too full, too rich, and not digested properly can lead to stomach aches, students can get digestive diseases and have no energy to take the exam the next day. Especially, during this period, students should eat cooked food, drink boiled water, and ensure food hygiene and safety. It is best that during exam days, students should eat at home, limit eating at restaurants, sidewalks, and places selling food of unknown origin to prevent food poisoning.
