On January 24, Dr. Truong Huu Khanh, Head of the Social Work Department, Children's Hospital 1 (HCMC), said that the unit is coordinating with authorities to investigate the case of a group of strangers entering the hospital and brazenly stealing money right in front of the cashier with ease.

According to initial information, the incident took place on the afternoon of January 23, after office hours. At this time, a group of 3 foreigners came to the reception desk (opposite the screening room of the Emergency Department). One of them asked for directions, another asked the cashier for change, and the last one waved his fan continuously.

Suddenly, the cashier became drowsy and lost consciousness. At that moment, one of the three foreigners gathered all the money in the cabinet and brazenly got into the car and drove away.

Immediately after the incident, Children's Hospital 1 extracted the camera and transferred related images and evidence to District 10 Police. The amount of money stolen by the subjects was determined to be about 6 million VND. Although the damage was not large, the subjects' actions caused a stir and concern for medical staff.

The incident is being urgently investigated and clarified by the authorities.

In March 2023, Children's Hospital 1 (HCMC) also issued a warning to parents about the scam of "transferring money to children in emergency care" over the phone.

Accordingly, the hospital recommends that parents who receive strange calls reporting that their children are in an emergency should contact the school or hospital via hotlines to verify the authenticity of the information.

Children's Hospital 1 affirms that there is no such thing as requiring patients or their families to pay in advance before providing emergency care. The hospital always puts the patient's life first.
