The event was organized by the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibitions (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in coordination with relevant agencies to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024).
The exhibition displays 70 paintings and sculptures by 57 authors, who are painters and sculptors across the country. The works are about the revolutionary war, the Dien Bien Phu Victory, historical events and people who contributed to the Dien Bien Phu Victory in 1954 such as: "Dien Bien Victory Festival" by Vu Tien, "Fireline Militia" by Do Ba Quang, "Dien Bien Spirit" by Nguyen Xuan Thanh, "Dien Bien Soldiers" by Vu Dai Binh, "Dien Bien Phu Epic" by Tran Thi Thanh Hoa, "President Ho Chi Minh Directs the Dien Bien Phu Campaign" by Lai Thanh, "Uncle Ho Goes to the Campaign" by Nguyen Phu Cuong...

In addition, the exhibition also displays fine art works about the country, people, and achievements of innovation of the Vietnamese people such as: "Peaceful Minute" by Tran Thai, "Meeting" by Nong Tien Dung, "Spring on the Border" by Nguyen Nghia Dau, "Thai People's Wedding" by Cam Thi Xuan, "Carpet Weaving" by Lo An Quang, "Northwest Stilt House" by Le Duong...
According to the Organizing Committee, these are all works of historical value, high artistic quality, profound content and meaning, collected from the Collection of the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition, Vietnam Military History Museum, Vietnam Fine Arts Association and some works of authors invited by the Organizing Committee to participate.
Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong affirmed: 70 years have passed, but the Dien Bien Phu Victory still retains its value and great historical significance, is a major event, marking a brilliant milestone in the history of our nation's struggle against foreign invaders, contributing significantly to the complete liberation of the North, moving towards national reunification. The Dien Bien Phu Victory is a testament to the ardent patriotism, the determination to fight and win of our army and people in the cause of fighting and defending the Fatherland.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong emphasized: The Fine Arts Exhibition to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory is an important cultural and artistic event, a meaningful activity to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory of the cultural sector. This is also an opportunity for art lovers to review the valuable historical lessons of the nation; promote the patriotism of artists in creating many works on the theme of revolutionary war, contributing their creative talents on the cultural front, thereby educating the younger generation to improve their understanding and promote patriotism.
Sharing at the exhibition, artist Pham Hoang Van said that the golden pages of the nation's history have always been an endless source of inspiration and he has created many paintings on the theme of history, revolutionary war, especially the resistance war against the French of our army and people, the peak of which was the Dien Bien Phu Victory. "At this exhibition, I participate with the lacquer painting 'Crossing Mountains and Rivers', expressing the beauty of soldiers on the march, full of hardship but also full of pride and honor", artist Pham Hoang Van shared.
The Fine Arts Exhibition commemorating the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory welcomes visitors until May 9, 2024.
