Revealing the combination of time and style.
Acne Studios is no stranger to doing all of these things. One day, the house might be offering soft, cute styles with a modern Bohemian aesthetic. The next, it might be pivoting to undeniably sexy vibes, from grunge to sleek eveningwear. Sometimes Acne Studios even goes for subtle notes that blend classic and contemporary. For its Fall/Winter 2024 men’s collection, the feel was “rebellious, sexy, cool,” as the house leaned into the power and specificity of denim culture.
So Jonny Johansson’s label combines notes of the past, present and future to give a new lease of life to the signature styles – dubbed “the modern cyclist”. The collection features a mix of oversized and body-hugging silhouettes, along with high- and low-rises. In addition to proportions, the wardrobe also sees the importance of mixed fabrics, as hard and soft fabrics are represented by leather, denim, faux fur cotton and chiffon. Keeping the biker ethos borrowed from the 2000s and the future, the collection includes pieces like cropped jackets, structured jackets, micro-tanks, baggy denim and more – enhanced with different washes, spray-on graphics and painted details.
To bring the collection to life, the brand enlisted the help of American musician Yves Tumor – a combination that epitomizes cool, rebellious style. “Yves felt like a great fit for the collection, they’re one of those guys who’s true to their art. They’re also space age, psychedelic and cool at the same time,” Johansson says. “The way they put one look together feels so true to the spirit of the collection. Yves has all these different sides, which to me is what a true rebel is: someone who you want to be, who doesn’t give a shit but makes the perfect choices.”
