Egypt wants to learn from Vietnam's development experience

Minister Rania A. Al-Mashat said she has visited Vietnam many times and is eager to learn the "secrets" and learn from Vietnam's development experience, thereby contributing to promoting Egypt's socio-economic development.

On August 5, within the framework of President Luong Cuong's State visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son met with Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania A. Al-Mashat, Chairwoman of the Egyptian branch of the Vietnam-Egypt Joint Committee.

Pleased to meet Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania A. Al-Mashat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son expressed his gratitude for the warm and thoughtful reception that the Egyptian President and senior Egyptian leaders gave to President Luong Cuong and his wife and the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son said he was very impressed by Egypt's strong development in many fields, expressed his joy at the two countries' agreement to upgrade their relationship to a Comprehensive Partnership, and asked the two countries' Joint Committee to immediately develop an Action Plan to implement the Joint Statement.

Expressing her special feelings for Vietnam, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania A. Al-Mashat said that she and many Egyptians look forward to President Luong Cuong's visit, believing that the visit will create a new momentum to bring Egypt's relationship with Vietnam, a country that has made miraculous progress in recent times, into a new, more comprehensive and profound phase.

At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and Minister Rania A. Al-Mashat agreed to promote the implementation of the agreements reached by the two countries during the President's visit, including organizing the 6th Meeting of the Joint Committee and the 3rd Meeting of the Trade and Industry Subcommittee between the two countries in 2025; promoting exchanges, aiming to launch negotiations on the Vietnam-Egypt Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to create breakthrough measures to increase trade turnover and towards sustainable economic and trade cooperation, mutually beneficial to both sides; and actively promoting negotiations to soon sign important cooperation documents between the two countries, especially the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement.

Minister Rania A. Al-Mashat emphasized her readiness to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises, including supporting Vietnamese enterprises to access necessary capital to expand investment and business activities in Egypt.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son acknowledged and praised European Plastics Joint Stock Company as the pioneering and largest Vietnamese investor in the Egyptian market.

On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son received the Board of Directors of European Plastics Joint Stock Company, a Vietnamese enterprise investing and doing business in Egypt.

At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son acknowledged and praised the Company as the pioneering and largest investor of Vietnam in the Egyptian market, representing the dynamic, creative, professional and integration-ready Vietnamese business community.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son requested the Company to fully comply with local laws during the investment and business process, promote connections, and support other Vietnamese enterprises to invest in Egypt as well as Egyptian corporations and enterprises to invest in Vietnam. At the same time, he assigned the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt to continue to closely coordinate and support the Company and other Vietnamese enterprises to smoothly implement investment, production and business activities here./.
