According to Marca , Real Madrid want to sign the England defender before the FIFA Club World Cup starts. Liverpool are said to be willing to accept an offer of around £850,000 to release him early, saving a month's wages.

The Anfield hierarchy had hoped Alexander-Arnold would follow in the footsteps of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk in signing a new contract, but appear to have accepted the reality that they will lose one of their finest academy products.
