Cong Phuong wants to help Vietnam team beat Malaysia

Striker Nguyen Cong Phuong said that playing for the Vietnamese team is not only an honor but also a responsibility. He hopes he can contribute to help his team defeat Malaysia.

“My first feeling is honor. Not only me but any player when called up to the national team feels the same. Football is my job, so I always have to try hard, prove myself and show the best I can to contribute to the team,” Cong Phuong shared with the media before the training session of the Vietnam team on the afternoon of May 30.

Returning to the Vietnam national team after a year and a half, Cong Phuong believes that he needs to work hard and strive to show his best. For the striker from Nghe An , playing and contributing to the national team is not only a personal honor but also a responsibility to the flag and the shirt.

“Not only me, all the players are trying to get into the rhythm and perform their best in the eyes of the coaching staff. My teammates and I are trying our best. Everyone is eager to play. If I am given the opportunity, I will try my best, for the responsibility and for the common goal of the team,” the striker from Binh Phuoc continued.

In this gathering, the Vietnamese team will have about 10 days to prepare for the match against Malaysia in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. Although he has only just joined the team, Cong Phuong shows high concentration and readiness both mentally and physically.

“This is a very important match. If we get a good result, our chances of advancing will be higher. The whole team will prepare carefully to achieve the best score. I have played well in matches against Malaysia. This time too, if I get to play, I will do my best to help the team achieve positive results,” he said.

The Vietnamese team gathered on May 29 and had their first training session on the afternoon of May 30. The players from CAHN and Binh Duong were not present for this training session because of the V.League match schedule. According to Tri Thuc - Znews, the players from these two clubs will gather on May 31 with the Vietnamese team to prepare for the match against Malaysia on June 10.
