(kontumtv.vn) – To help households in difficult circumstances settle down, Kon Tum city has stepped up the implementation of solutions to support the construction of solidarity houses and charity houses for the beneficiaries. The newly built houses have brought joy to poor and near-poor households, contributing positively to the poverty reduction effort in the area.

In the chilly weather of the last days of the year, the new house of Ms. Y Blyuh's family, a near-poor household in Ia Chim commune, Kon Tum city, has become warmer. Ms. Y Blyuh's family situation is very difficult. For the past 3 years, she has had to treat thyroid tumor, the family's main income depends on her husband's salary as a worker. Sharing the difficulties with the family, Kon Tum City Youth Union coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Cooperative Union Branch - CoopMart Kon Tum to support her with a new house, with a construction cost of 80 million VND. Ms. Y Blyuh excitedly said: "I am very happy to have the Youth Union build a house for me because I have a house to protect me from the sun and rain. I will focus on making a living, going to the hospital, raising and educating my children better."

With the motto "No one is left behind", Kon Tum City Youth Union has promoted the mobilization and calling for support from local youth union members and organizations and benefactors to build houses for poor, near-poor and disadvantaged households. Since 2017, Kon Tum City Youth Union has supported the construction of 11 charity houses for 11 disadvantaged families. Ms. Do Thi Hong Hanh - Secretary of Kon Tum City Youth Union, said: "Kon Tum City Youth Union coordinates with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city, communes and wards to review households with dilapidated houses, temporary houses, on that basis, mobilize sources from benefactors to support both youth union members, veterans' associations, poor households, near-poor households, single-parent households, households with disabilities who do not have a house, temporary houses, dilapidated houses, together with benefactors to support people to have stable houses to develop the economy ."

Being a poor household, old, weak, and having a disabled child, the life of Mrs. Y Kuel's family in Plei To Nghia village, Quang Trung ward is very difficult, unable to repair the house. Therefore, the People's Committee of Quang Trung ward called on the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development to support 50 million VND to build a house, creating motivation for her to overcome difficulties. Mrs. Y Kuel emotionally shared: "My child is paralyzed, and these days she is still sick. The State gives her a house, she is very happy!"

After screening, Kon Tum city still has 74 temporary and dilapidated houses. Implementing the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Kon Tum city by 2025", the locality launched support to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households. Up to now, Kon Tum city has mobilized more than 3.2 billion VND to eliminate temporary houses. Ms. Y Geo - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Kon Tum city, added: "To eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, in the coming time, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee will actively propagate and mobilize organizations and individuals inside and outside the city to donate and support, creating resources to help poor, near-poor and disadvantaged households to improve their lives; strengthen propaganda and mobilize people to help each other in economic development, actively help each other in sustainable poverty reduction."
