The Ministry of Industry and Trade has considered applying temporary anti-dumping measures to prevent the rapid increase in galvanized steel imports that could cause serious damage to the domestic manufacturing industry.
Accordingly, the highest temporary anti-dumping tax rate applied is 37.13% for goods originating from China and 15.67% for goods originating from South Korea.
During the investigation of the case, in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Foreign Trade Management, the Ministry of Industry and Trade coordinated with relevant units to carefully review and assess the impact of dumping of imported goods on the activities of domestic manufacturing industries and the level of dumping by manufacturing and exporting enterprises of China and Korea.
According to customs data, by the end of March 2024, the volume of imports of investigated goods in 12 months had reached 454,000 tons (up 91%). Even after the Ministry of Industry and Trade decided to initiate this case, the volume of imports of galvanized steel from China and South Korea still increased significantly, in just the last 9 months of 2024, the volume of imports of investigated goods was approximately 382,000 tons (up 20%).
Therefore, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has considered applying temporary anti-dumping measures to prevent the rapid increase in galvanized steel imports that could cause serious damage to the domestic manufacturing industry in the coming time.
According to the provisions of the Law on Foreign Trade Management, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to conduct on-site investigations of foreign export manufacturing enterprises and import enterprises to draw final conclusions on this case.
