Cua Ong Ward was established on the basis of merging 4 old commune-level administrative units (Cua Ong, Cam Thinh, Cam Phu and Cam Son) with a total area of 44.07 km2 and a population of 66,504 people. As the second most populous locality in the province, with a development space expanding towards the sea, Cua Ong is oriented to become a typical ward in the transformation of development methods from brown to green, focusing on industries, tourism, services, seaports and logistics.

The Cua Ong Temple National Special Relic Site is the focus of developing tourism services and spiritual culture in the eastern area of ​​Cua Ong ward.

The new Cua Ong Ward has a prime geographical location, stretching along the East Sea coast, bordering other important areas of Cam Pha. This location creates favorable conditions for the development of the marine economy , trade and regional connectivity. In particular, the ward is home to the special national relic Cua Ong Temple, which worships Hung Nhuong Vuong Tran Quoc Tang - a famous general of the Tran Dynasty.
