The Department of Police Investigation of Crimes of Corruption, Economy, and Smuggling (C03) - Ministry of Public Security has recently prosecuted the case, prosecuted the accused, and temporarily detained Phan Thi Mai, Director of Mailisa Beauty Salon Co., Ltd. and Hoang Kim Khanh (Mai's husband), General Director of MK Skincare Company, along with 6 others for the crime of "Smuggling".

According to C03, Mai operated the distribution network, coordinated with her husband to build a legal shell through many satellite companies, turning the cosmetics smuggling ring into a business system disguised as legal. From this camouflage structure, Mailisa developed into a chain of 17 branches nationwide, distributing more than 8 million products of nearly 100 Doctor Magic product codes.

Of which, only 3 main products including M01 pigmentation removal cream, M03 dark spot removal and skin lightening cream and M23 BB Nano sunscreen have sold more than 3.2 million boxes, bringing in illegal profits of up to thousands of billions of dong.

The Mai couple transformed cheap products into high-end products with glossy packaging, strong media and the image of successful businessmen. The source of goods - the most important link in the "virtual empire" of Doctor Magic - was cleverly hidden.

Department C03 said that all melasma treatment creams, skin care products, facial cleansers, sunscreens... were processed by factories in Guangzhou (China) at a price of only 30,000-150,000 VND/product. The goods were transported to Hong Kong (China). Here, 2 "ghost" companies of Mai and Khanh and some Chinese people opened declarations, labeled "made in Hong Kong" with fake invoices and international payment documents.

When imported to Vietnam, the shipments continue to be legalized through MK Skincare Company, of which Khanh is the owner and general director.

To qualify for circulation, Mai and his wife also colluded to apply for a certificate of free circulation in Hong Kong. After that, the defendants submitted the cosmetic declaration dossier to the Drug Administration - Ministry of Health through the online public service system with a dossier "legalized" by a roundabout contract and fake invoices.
