The recent storms and floods have caused severe damage to road infrastructure in many provinces and localities, requiring support and repair of roads to ensure traffic safety.

The Vietnam Road Administration has just sent a document to the Ministry of Construction regarding financial support for overcoming the consequences of natural disasters on national highways under local management.
According to reports from the People's Committees of the provinces, the damage caused by natural disasters (especially storms No. 9, 10 and 11) amounted to VND3,239.4 billion (provincial roads VND1,160.3 billion, national highways VND2,079 billion).
With the national highways that have been decentralized to local management being very large, the Vietnam Road Administration gave an estimated damage figure in 9 provinces including: Son La, Dien Bien, Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Cao Bang , Thai Nguyen, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh of about 2,079 billion VND.
In the context of limited local budgets and the need to overcome the consequences of natural disasters in many areas, the People's Committees of the provinces requested the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Construction and the Vietnam Road Administration to balance and support funding from the 2025 road economic activity expenditure source (allocated to the Ministry of Construction) to promptly handle and overcome the consequences of natural disasters on decentralized national highways with a budget of 1,441.4 billion VND. Of which, the budget for handling traffic congestion and road traffic in step 1 is 1,227.9 billion VND and the budget for solidifying and sustaining works is 213.5 billion VND.
In order to promptly support localities in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters on national highways, ensuring safe and smooth traffic, the Vietnam Road Administration recommends that the Ministry of Construction consider and request the Ministry of Finance to report to the competent authority to adjust and reduce the road economic career budget assigned to the Ministry of Construction in 2025 to support localities in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters on national highways under local management.
With 1,939 billion VND of local funding supported by the Central Government, the Vietnam Road Administration proposed a total funding of about 636.3 billion VND to support localities to handle traffic congestion and road traffic in step 1./.
